The AFC West’s last two unbeaten teams collide later this afternoon, with the Kansas City Chiefs heading to Allegiant Stadium as 4.5-point road favorites over the Las Vegas Raiders.
My top Chiefs vs. Raiders prediction backs Kansas City to flex its championship pedigree, cover the spread, and hand Las Vegas its first loss of the season. Read on for my favorite NFL picks for Sunday, Oct. 4.
TOP Pick
Chiefs vs Raiders prediction: Chiefs -4.5
Hats off to the Las Vegas Raiders and quarterback Kirk Cousins for the 3-0 start, but business picks up this week with the Kansas City Chiefs and QB Patrick Mahomes strutting into Allegiant Stadium.
The Raiders leading the league in takeaways, in addition to ranking second in both net punting and average drive start on kickoff returns has been a massive contributor to the hot start.
Offensively, Las Vegas is 15th in EPA per play and 19th in success rate, so facing a Kansas City defense ranking sixth in both metrics is a huge uptick in class considering the Raiders have faced the second-easiest defensive schedule by DVOA through three weeks.
Of course, the Chiefs also check in sixth in EPA per play and seventh in offensive success rate.
I recommend Kansas City up to -5.5.

Chiefs vs Raiders combo
Mahomes has thrown for multiple touchdowns in all three games this season with a high-end 8.3 yards per attempt and 83.7 adjusted completion percentage, and the Raiders just allowed four passing touchdowns and the ninth-highest dropback success rate in Week 3.
Continuing, KC receiver Rashee Rice has 55 or more receiving yards in 18 of his past 26 regular-season games, and Mahomes has an excellent 117.8 career NFL passer rating when targeting Rice.
Chiefs vs Raiders combo
- Chiefs -4.5
- Patrick Mahomes 2+ passing touchdowns
- Rashee Rice 55+ receiving yards
Chiefs vs Raiders touchdown scorer: Kenneth Walker III
The breakeven number for Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker III to find the end zone is 64%, so there’s value here.
He has handled 51.3% of the touches and 71.4% of the carries for the Chiefs inside the red zone and scored four times through three games.
Of course, Walker’s underlying numbers also pop with a league-high 4.66 yards after contact per carry and PFF elusive rating.
Chiefs vs Raiders player prop: Rashee Rice 55+ receiving yards
The Raiders allowed the ninth-highest dropback success rate in Week 3, and the Chiefs go-to receiver has caught 11 of his 15 targets for 171 yards. His 15.6 yards per reception and 7.4 aDoT are also encouraging marks during the two weeks, and I also value Rice garnering 18.7% of targets in the offense for the year.
I recommend this prop to 54%.
