The Atlanta Dream are 3.5-point favorites when they host the New York Liberty in Game 1 of their WNBA semifinal playoff matchup at State Farm Arena.

The Dream have won and covered the spread in seven straight games, and my best Liberty vs. Dream prediction and WNBA picks back Atlanta to cover on Sunday, Oct. 4.

 TOP PICK
Liberty vs Dream prediction: Dream -3.5

The Atlanta Dream holds every advanced analytical edge over the New York Liberty.

Over their last five games, the Dream lead the league with a +26.8 Net Rating and a 90.5 Defensive Rating while allowing just 74.0 points per game.

The deciding edge for me is ball security and interior dominance.

Atlanta posts a 2.49 assist-to-turnover ratio against New York’s loose 18.7% turnover rate, driving an eight-point margin in points off turnovers (17.2 to 9.2) over their last five games.

Add Atlanta's +8.4 edge in paint scoring (44.4 to 35.6) and a perimeter defense holding opponents to 21.4% from deep, and Atlanta covers the spread up to -4.5.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Over the past five games, the Atlanta Dream have allowed the fewest points from turnovers (9.4) and a league-best 6.2 second-chance points (6.2).

Liberty vs Dream combo

This combo trade hinges on Atlanta’s lockdown defense.

Over their last five games, the Dream boast a stifling 90.5 Defensive Rating and hold opponents to just 21.4% from deep.

The Dream's suffocating perimeter defense is built to slow snipers like Sabrina Ionescu, and she’s made three or more triples in just two of her last five games.

New York is 2–8 to the Under down the stretch, and with Atlanta’s ball security eliminating points from turnovers, I expect a tight, defensive battle the Dream controls throughout the game.
