Josh Allen has been haunted by Houston in recent years but Jason Logan likes the Bills and Texans to top a low Week 1 total. Check out his best NFL picks and predictions for this huge AFC showdown.

The pressure put on Josh Allen to win a Super Bowl could easily bust through a million folding tables.

After firing their long-time head coach and promoting Allen’s guy, offensive coordinator Joe Brady, the Buffalo Bills are putting all their Big Game hopes on Allen’s shoulders.

The road to Super Bowl LXI is a hard one and it starts against the NFL’s best defense. Buffalo is a slim road favorite visiting the Houston Texans in Week 1.

My Bills vs. Texans predictions measure both sides’ offseason moves, finding an edge for my best NFL picks on September 13.

 TOP PICK
Bills vs Texans prediction: Over 44.5

This total sits right at the closing number for last year’s run-in between the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans. That Week 12 contest finished with Houston winning 23-19, staying short of the 44.5 O/U.

However, the Texans had backup Davis Mills at the wheel in that last meeting instead of QB1 C.J. Stroud, who will be under center in Week 1.

I see more from both offenses in 2026.

Joe Brady brought in WR D.J. Moore to give Josh Allen a reliable deep threat, helping him take the top off the Texans’ man coverage. As for Houston, it enters Year 2 under OC Nick Caley with offensive line additions and more skill position weapons.

Some game projections have this final score sniffing 50 points. I’m more conservative, playing the Under on anything short of 55%.

Covers COVERS INTEL: D.J. Moore reunites with Joe Brady, who was his OC in Carolina when Moore went for +1,100 yards in 2020 and 2021. What’s “Moore”, the WR thrives indoors seeing his yards per reception jump to 14.6 (vs. 13.2 outdoors).

Bills vs Texans combo

The Texans have a great defense but this Week 1 game could have more fireworks than most suspect. Josh Allen has plenty to prove with D.J. Moore in the mix and C.J. Stroud is a different passer at home.

Kincaid is the best Buffalo TE vs. man coverage and the Texans allowed eight TDs to that position last season. Stroud has a better offensive line in front of him and some added targets, with projections calling for more than 225 passing yards in Week 1.

Bills vs Texans combo

  • Over 44.5
  • Dalton Kincaid – Yes 1+ touchdown
  • C.J. Stroud – Yes 222+ passing yards

Bills vs Texans touchdown scorer: Dalton Kincaid

Picking a Bills tight end to score a touchdown is a 50/50 flip, with Dawson Knox and Dalton Kincaid both capable pass catchers.

The TD markets believe Kincaid is the top TE option in the end zone. He’s coming off a 2025 in which he led all TEs in targets per route run and scored seven total touchdowns over the course of the season.

Houston’s defense doesn’t have many cracks but of the 20 total receiving touchdowns it allowed last year, eight of those strikes came from tight ends.

Kincaid ranks out better versus man coverage, which the Texans run exclusively, and projections have me taking his 1+ touchdown markets as high as 29%.
