ESPN has not announced its College GameDay destination for Week 5, but it appears likely to be an ACC matchup with Miami at Clemson and Notre Dame at North Carolina leading the early market for an intriguing slate of games on Saturday, Oct. 3.
Those two matchups feature just under a 25% probability across the best prediction market apps to host the weekly ESPN show, while Washington at USC remains a serious contender too — assuming the Trojans don't host GameDay in Week 4. We should have answers after this weekend with Clemson and UNC facing off in Death Valley.
We're tracking the latest market movement below for Week 5. You can also follow every confirmed stop and future projection with our 2026 College GameDay schedule.

Will College GameDay be at Miami vs. Clemson?
This matchup had more appeal before Clemson fell on its face in the season opener, but No. 5 Miami has enough appeal to anchor a GameDay appearance. The Hurricanes have gotten off to a strong start and should be undefeated entering this ACC clash at Memorial Stadium.
Clemson, however, could be the pitfall here. If the Tigers lose to North Carolina or Cal in the coming weeks, that could be all she wrote for subsequent GameDay appearances on campus this season. But if freshman Tait Reynolds lights it up as the new starting QB, that could make the Miami game a clear-cut marquee matchup for ESPN to showcase.
College GameDay history at Clemson
Clemson has hosted College GameDay eight times, including a special Thursday edition in 2019, with the Tigers going 7–1 in those games. They have won the last five, most recently beating NC State 30–20 on Oct. 1, 2022.
Here are the five most recent College GameDay visits to Clemson:
| Date | Matchup | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Oct. 1, 2022 | Clemson 30, NC State 20 | |
| Oct. 10, 2020 | Clemson 42, Miami 17 | |
| Aug. 29, 2019 | Clemson 52, Georgia Tech 14 | |
| Oct. 1, 2016 | Clemson 42, Louisville 36 | |
| Oct. 3, 2015 | Clemson 24, Notre Dame 22 |
Where else could College GameDay be in Week 5?
Notre Dame at North Carolina
This matchup is a virtual toss-up with Miami vs. Clemson in the market, and it features a bigger draw in No. 3 Notre Dame visiting Kenan Stadium. Both teams could be undefeated if the Tar Heels can escape a road trip to Clemson with a win, as they'll enjoy a bye week after that with the Fighting Irish facing Michigan State and Purdue upcoming.
Washington at USC
Could we see GameDay head to Los Angeles for this matchup but not the Oregon game a week earlier? That's the biggest hang-up for this game earning spotlight status in Week 5, as both teams have a realistic shot at being undefeated if USC can outlast the Ducks. Even still, the winner of this game should have the inside track for a Big Ten title berth.
What could change the Week 5 College GameDay race?
Saturday's Clemson-UNC game is the clear pivot point for ESPN's executives to consider ahead of Week 5. A Tigers win would end UNC's unbeaten start and keep Clemson on course to host Miami at 3–1. A win by the Tar Heels would send UNC into its bye week at 3–0 and likely set up an undefeated clash with Notre Dame in Week 5.
Beyond the current leaderboard, No. 6 Ohio State at No. 18 Iowa is worth watching. Iowa is 2–0 after beating Iowa State to win the Cy-Hawk Trophy, and wins over UNI and Michigan would have them undefeated heading into their Week 5 matchup with the Buckeyes at Kinnick Stadium.
After losing to the Hawkeyes, there's still hope for Iowa State to bounce back and potentially host GameDay in Week 5 with West Virginia coming to town. We could see another SEC matchup, too: Tennessee hosts Auburn on Oct. 3 after facing Texas the week before, while Mississippi State welcomes Alabama into town in Week 5. If either host remains unbeaten entering that week, they could make a compelling case for GameDay.
