College GameDay is heading to Iowa City for Week 5, as No. 14 Iowa hosts No. 5 Ohio State on Saturday, Oct. 3. ESPN's morning show will broadcast from the Pentacrest before the Big Ten matchup at Kinnick Stadium, with CBS coverage beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The Hawkeyes kept their unbeaten season alive with a literal last-second win at Michigan last week. Their reward was hosting College GameDay for the first time in 20 years. Where is College GameDay in Week 5?
College GameDay will broadcast from the University of Iowa in Iowa City on Saturday, Oct. 3 ahead of Ohio State vs. Iowa. The university confirmed the visit on Sunday.
The set will be on the Pentacrest, as confirmed in Iowa's official gameday guide. The show runs from 9 a.m. to noon ET (8 to 11 a.m. locally) before the teams meet at Kinnick Stadium for a 3:39 p.m. ET kickoff.

Why is College GameDay going to Iowa City?
Iowa gave ESPN plenty to work with after its comeback in Ann Arbor last week. Hank Brown found Reece Vander Zee for a 16-yard touchdown as time expired to beat Michigan 20-19, lifting the Hawkeyes to a 4-0 record for the first time since 2021.
Brown threw both of his touchdown passes in the fourth quarter; now he gets a tougher test against a top-five opponent that is tied for third in the latest national championship odds. Ohio State is 3-1 after beating Illinois by 23 points last week behind another aerial display from Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith.
Then there's the return to Kinnick Stadium. Ohio State hasn't played there since Iowa's 55-24 upset in 2017, and this is the first meeting since 2006 with both teams ranked in the AP Top 15. That was also the last time GameDay came to town.
College GameDay history at Iowa
Saturday will mark College GameDay's third football visit to Iowa City. Ohio State was the opponent for both previous stops, winning 38-26 in 1996 and 38-17 in 2006. Here are the show's two completed visits:

How to watch College GameDay Week 5

ESPN has also announced that Kirk Ferentz will join the show live on set. Saturday's broadcast will feature the Hawkeye Wave and Iowa's offensive line hay bale toss tradition.
Fans planning to attend can find the set map and pit rules in ESPN's College GameDay guide. Pit access is first come, first served and subject to security screening. Iowa says overnight camping is prohibited.
Iowa's gameday guide also lists parking options near the Pentacrest and a seating map for the ANF Black & Gold Spirit Game at sold-out Kinnick Stadium. Fans attending the game should wear black or gold according to their section and check the university's downtown road-closure and transit notice before traveling.

Ohio State is favored to beat Iowa with an 84% chance to win outright, while the Hawkeyes sit at 16% according to Kalshi, one of our best prediction market apps.
The Buckeyes' path starts with making Iowa account for Smith on every snap. He caught 12 passes for 217 yards and four touchdowns against Illinois, making life easy for Sayin en route to 367 yards in that 23-point win. Giving Smith single coverage is a risk, but sending extra help his way creates opportunities for the rest of Ohio State's offense. Iowa needs to limit those big plays without making everything else too easy.
For the Hawkeyes, a defense allowing just 8.0 points per game gives them a chance to keep this within reach. Brown showed at Michigan that he can deliver when Iowa has to throw, but asking him to trade scores with Sayin is a different ask altogether. If the Hawkeyes can keep the game close enough to stick with the run and rely on a big play defensively (what's new, Iowa fans?), we could be in store for another classic between these two at Kinnick.
