The Kent State Golden Flashes head to Lubbock on Saturday to face the No. 4 Texas Tech Red Raiders, who enter as heavy favorites after a dominant 67-7 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Week 0.

While the outcome may seem obvious, my Kent State vs. Texas Tech predictions take a closer look at how the market might be overlooking the Golden Flashes.

Read on for my college football picks for Saturday, September 6.

Kent State vs Texas Tech prediction

Kent State vs Texas Tech best bet: Over 59.5 (-115)

The Texas Tech Red Raiders put together one of college football’s most dominant offensive showcases in Week 1. The Red Raiders racked up 67 points even though their starting quarterback, Behren Morton, was forced to leave the game early with a leg injury.

Texas Tech’s quarterbacks completed 83% of their passes and tallied six passing touchdowns in Week 1. The Red Raiders’ rushing attack is potent as well, though.

Every Red Raider who recorded a rushing attempt in Week 1 averaged at least 8.0 yards per carry. That productivity helped them finish with three rushing touchdowns against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Bettors should expect the favorites to get downhill and move the chains with ease on the ground, whether their starters are on the field or not.

The Kent State Golden Flashes are vulnerable against the run on defense, as quarterbacks have totaled 133 rushing yards on 23 carries against them. Both players averaged at least 5.4 yards per carry.

Those numbers will likely be even worse when Kent State faces more dynamic athletes.

Kent State’s quarterbacks can do their part and score sparingly, but Texas Tech will do most of the work and should comfortably push the total Over 59.5 points.

Kent State vs Texas Tech same-game parlay

Kent State can avoid getting blown out by 50 points by scoring more than 10 points. Texas Tech’s explosive offense will make this a high-scoring game regardless of what the underdogs do.

Kent State vs Texas Tech 2-Leg SGP

  • Over 59.5 (-115)
  • Kent State +48.5 (-104)

Kent State vs Texas Tech moneyline prediction

The Red Raiders have too much talent to lose a home game against a team of Kent State’s caliber. The Golden Eagles didn't win a game last and haven’t improved enough since then to beat a ranked opponent.

Kent State vs Texas Tech spread prediction

Kent State is much more capable on offense than the FCS program Texas Tech last faced. The Golden Eagles’ two-quarterback system can cover by putting more than one touchdown on the board.

Kent State vs Texas Tech Over/Under prediction

The Game Total Over seems like a slam dunk here. Texas Tech can score 60 points by itself proved that last week.

Kent State vs Texas Tech odds

  • Spread: Kent State +48.5 (-110) | Texas Tech -48.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Kent State +3300 | Texas Tech -25000
  • Over/Under: Over 60.5 (-110) | Under 60.5 (-110)
