Everything was working for Iowa State last Saturday, with quarterback Brock Purdy going 16-20 for 236 yards and three touchdowns and running back Breece Hall racking up 135 yards on 15 carries, while also scoring twice.
The Longhorns are also in the middle of a three-game winning streak and have had an extra week to prepare after their game against Kansas was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger paces an offense that averages 40.4 points per game, while the Texas defense has shown improvement under new coordinator Chris Ash. Future NFL star Joseph Ossai is a player to watch, as the disruptive linebacker leads Texas with 48 tackles.
Iowa State has quietly tightened on the defensive side, allowing only 17.7 points per game in their last three, and while the Horns are squeaking by in their victories, the Cyclones appear to be playing their best football.
