After five straight grueling games, the Chippewas now draw the Eagles, who have faced a much easier stretch of competition. Can Eastern Michigan take advantage of the matchup and come out on top as a short home favorite?

Both teams are coming off a loss, but which MAC team will turn this midweek MACtion matchup into a thriller?

My Central Michigan vs. Eastern Michigan prediction backs the Chippewas to take down the Eagles while this Week 10 matchup finishes well below the 44.5-point total.

Here are my latest college football picks ahead of Wednesday's 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Nov. 4.

Who will win Central Michigan vs Eastern Michigan: Central Michigan moneyline

The last five games have been much tougher for one of these two teams, and it's not even close.

The Central Michigan Chippewas have faced some of the toughest teams in the country and the conference in four of their last five games. Their lone gimme came in a 41-17 win over Akron. The rest of their schedule included road games against Miami (Florida) and Ohio, along with matchups against Western Michigan and Miami (Ohio).

Those three MAC teams have combined for an 11-2 record in conference play. If you need me to break down how good the Hurricanes are, maybe another time.

On the other side, Eastern Michigan has dealt with Ohio and Toledo, another solid MAC team. However, aside from those two opponents, its schedule has included Akron, UMass, Lindenwood, and Wisconsin.

The Chippewas will try to run the ball down the Eagles' throats, much like Ohio did in Week 8.

Central Michigan runs the ball more than 60% of the time, ranking 11th nationally in rushing play percentage. The Chippewas are averaging 165 yards per game on the ground. If CMU can establish its ground attack, it can sneak away with an underdog win.

Want the cushion? Take the +1.5, but there's plenty of value in backing the Chippewas to win outright at below 50%.

 TOP PICK
Central Michigan vs Eastern Michigan Over/Under pick: Under 44.5

This game is a broadcaster's dream. Both teams play extremely slowly, which should eat up the clock, especially with the Chippewas running the ball more than 37 times a game.

Although the Eagles don't run the ball as much as Central Michigan, they will be forced to do so against the Chippewas defense that ranks in the top 25 in opponent pass yards allowed per game and opponent interception percentage.

The Eagles have a very solid run defense, but with the Chippewas leaning heavily on their strength, it's hard to see them pivoting to the passing game. Both sides will likely rely on ground attacks.

I would take this down to 42.5 at the most.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Both teams rank in the bottom 40 in seconds per play in their first three drives. On top of that, both rank in the bottom 10 when playing with a lead. That means whichever team gets ahead in the second half will make it a living hell for its opponent to get possession time.

Central Michigan vs Eastern Michigan prop: Central Michigan 1H +1.5

Given how low-scoring I expect this matchup to be, and how much tougher Central Michigan's schedule has been, the Chippewas should be ready to hold down the Eagles and to keep this game tight throughout the first half.

Central Michigan vs Eastern Michigan combo

If the Chippewas' battle-tested offense can force the ball down the Eagles' throats, this should be their game from start to finish. With both teams playing at such slow tempos, this should be an all-out rock fight from the opening bell. That’s why I’m combining Central Michigan to come out on top, first-half +1.5, and the Under 44.5 for a fun 4.60x sweat!
