Josh Anderson is pacing the Montreal Canadiens (61%) in 5-on-5 shot generating effiency.
My Jets vs. Canadiens prediction sees him taking advantage of a great matchup vs. a Winnipeg team giving up shots in bulk and taking few penalties, leading to a lot of full-strength play.
Read on for full analysis of my NHL picks for Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Jets vs Canadiens prediction: Over 5.5
The Over is playable to 58%.
The Montreal Canadiens sit 13th in goals and shooting percentage despite playing a handful of games without Nick Suzuki. They continue to find ways to get it done.
While there is no doubt they miss Suzuki, the Canadiens have still shown a real offensive ceiling in scoring five times back-to-back games.
The matchup is enticing to build on their strong form. The Winnipeg Jets slot 27th in goals against per game and have allowed an average of 3.9 on the road.
Montreal’s proneness to penalties should help Winnipeg chip in offensively and push this game Over.

Jets vs Canadiens combo
Montreal owns a 9-5 O/U record, and I’m expecting another strong offensive showing against Winnipeg.
Lane Hutson has 10 assists through 14 games and is taking on even more responsibility on his plate offensively without Suzuki's playmaking in the lineup.
Josh Anderson is Montreal’s most efficient shot-generator at 5-on-5 and the Jets don’t take many penalties.
Jets vs Canadiens combo
- Over 5.5
- Lane Hutson Over 0.5 assists
- Josh Anderson Over 1.5 shots
TOP PICK
Jets vs Canadiens player prop: Josh Anderson Over 1.5 shots
I like the Over on Anderson’s 1.5 shot total up to 58%.
The rugged Canadiens winger has been a model of consistency, recording multiple shots on target in 10 of 13 games.
Two of the three Unders came against Carolina and Dallas. Those are elite defensive teams who give up little shot volume on a nightly basis.
Winnipeg is very far from that, ranking 25th in shot share at 5-on-5 and 24th in shot suppression.
Anderson leads the Canadiens in that game state with 10.45 SOG per 60 minutes and is a likely candidate to capitalize on Winnipeg’s defensive shortcomings.
Jets vs Canadiens goal scorer: Juraj Slafkovsky
I’m looking to Juraj Slafkovsky to find the net and would back him to 33%.
Slafkovsky lives around the paint and finishes efficiently as a byproduct of his shot quality, scoring on 13.7% of his career shots.
He is currently converting at an abnormally low – and unsustainably low – 5.9% clip. This is the perfect spot for him to get back on track.
The Jets have dropped nine consecutive games and conceded at least three times in seven of them.

- Combos: 5-32, -13.62 units
