It may be rare to see an unbeaten Top-10 team as a double-digit underdog, but that is where the BYU Cougars find themselves this weekend, heading to face the Big 12 favorite Texas Tech Red Raiders.
My BYU vs. Texas Tech predictions put faith in the Red Raiders, even if the Cougars should find some way to shorten this game.

BYU vs Texas Tech prediction
BYU vs Texas Tech best bet: Texas Tech 1H -6.5 (-105)
Quite frankly, FanDuel posting this full-game spread at -10.5 with only the slight tease of -105 scares me off taking Texas Tech for the full game.
Drop that to -10 and there may be a conversation, certainly at -9.5. BYU has enough offense to break through the backdoor of an otherwise decided game, so that hook is too worrying.
In the first half, though, Texas Tech should go up by a touchdown at some point, and with the Red Raiders’ boasting arguably the best defense in the country — ranking No. 1 in expected points added (EPA) per snap, per CFB-graphs.com — that presumed lead creates enough confidence to take this first-half spread.
Texas Tech’s overall value on the market has fallen a bit because of the two games without Behren Morton, leading to an outright loss to Arizona State despite being a 7.5-point favorite, as well as a statistically disappointing 42-0 win against Oklahoma State.
However, Red Raiders head coach Joey McGuire has outright said Morton likely could have played in both games if not for Texas Tech’s margin for error to make the College Football Playoff.
With Morton, the Red Raiders have covered the first-half spread in three of their four games against Power Four foes, the kind of early emphasis that will protect against late-game stresses if BYU is mounting an otherwise meaningless drive.
BYU vs Texas Tech same-game parlay
Texas Tech should control this game. It is not that BYU is all that lackluster; it is that the Red Raiders are overall undervalued, two games without Behren Morton getting undue weight in market approaches.
Focusing on the Under is a bet on Texas Tech's elite defensive line, no matter how much BYU may try to gunk up this contest.
Adding in a Cameron Dickey touchdown is only too obvious, given he has scored at least once in eight of nine games this season.

Our deep-ball SGP: Slow Ride
Taking BYU to cover this game spread of +10.5 while featuring Texas Tech in the first half at -6.5 is a thought that boosts this same-game parlay an excessive amount.
I am very much trusting Kalani Sitake to slow down this game, looking for a Red Raiders error to put the result suddenly in jeopardy.
