For a few moments on Thursday, brackets across the world started to sizzle and pop like bacon in a pan.

The top-seeded Duke Blue Devils avoided what would have been the biggest bracket-burning upset in the history of the NCAA Tournament, putting out that grease fire with an unsettling six-point win over Siena.

That has the Blue Devils on their toes for a Round of 32 pairing with the No. 9 TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday, March 21.

My TCU vs. Duke predictions don’t see the Blue Devils taking it easy, and our March Madness picks believe this is a bad matchup for the Horned Frogs' offense.

TCU vs Duke prediction

Who will win TCU vs Duke?

Duke: Although the Blue Devils are missing some starters, they have a surplus of talent to lean on.

Duke is a double-digit favorite against TCU, which will have a tough time generating buckets on Saturday.

TCU vs Duke best bet: TCU team total Under 64.5 (-120)

The TCU Horned Frogs’ first half versus Ohio State was a weird one.

Texas Christian isn’t a great 3-point team, but its 39 first-half points were fueled by 7-of-13 shooting from deep. That eventually dried up, as TCU made just 2 of 10 from beyond the arc in the second half and scored only 27 points.

The Frogs’ offense is normally driven by fastbreak buckets, points off turnovers, and offensive rebounds. Those are areas in which the Duke Blue Devils deny opponents.

Duke cleans the glass, takes care of the basketball, and its efficient offense forces opponents to start possessions from in-bounds, pushing them into the halfcourt.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Duke switched to zone defense in the second half vs. Siena, limiting the Saints to 23.5% shooting. Expect to see more zone against TCU, which shoots 33.3% from 3-point range.

TCU vs Duke same-game parlay

The Blue Devils are being discounted for that ugly effort in the opener. The spread is hovering around 11 points, but game models sit as high as a 16-point margin for the Dukies.

TCU struggles on the perimeter and gives up a lot of high-quality looks from distance. Duke is a far better 3-point team than it showed Thursday, and Isaiah Evans should knock down three or more triples.

Our Big Dance SGP: Hell to Pay

Duke will control the pace on both ends of the floor, slowing TCU down with zone and methodically working the ball for clean looks on offense.

The Horned Frogs' defense allows a high assist-to-FGM rate, which should translate to a nice stat line for top prospect Cameron Boozer.

TCU vs Duke SGP

  • Duke -11
  • Under 140
  • Isaiah Evans Over 2.5 threes
  • Cameron Boozer Over 5.5 assists
