Logan's prediction: De’Aaron Fox’s point prop sits at a makeable 19.5 after Tuesday’s dud. He gets a softer matchup against the Lakers, and at even money, it’s solid value.

There’s no rest in the West when the Los Angeles Lakers visit the San Antonio Spurs tonight.

With Victor Wembanyama on a minutes cap and Devin Vassell battling a thigh injury, my Lakers vs. Spurs predictions expect guard De'Aaron Fox to put San Antonio on his shoulders.

His scoring output is where I find my best NBA picks on Wednesday, January 7.

Tip-off is set for 9:30 p.m. ET from the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, with the game airing on ESPN.

Lakers vs Spurs prediction

Lakers vs Spurs best bet: De'Aaron Fox Over 19.5 points (+100)

With limited star power in the lineup, the San Antonio Spurs needed De'Aaron Fox to have a big night against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday. That didn’t happen.

Fox fired up plenty of shots in his 30 minutes of floor time, but finished 4-for-18 from the field – including 1-for-7 from 3-point land – and scored only nine points in the tight road loss in Memphis.

He won’t have to wait long to get right and is set up to do so against a Los Angeles Lakers defense that ranks among the softest in the NBA.

Los Angeles sits 23rd in advanced defensive rating and has a depleted backcourt with starting guards Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura out of action. That defensive depth will be put to the test with tonight's tight turnaround.

Fox is averaging more than 21 points per game and scored 20 in an NBA Cup victory over L.A. back in December. His last three scoring prop totals have come in at 21.5, 23.5, and 24.5 – finishing Under in all three of those contests.

Tonight's scoring total seems more like a knee-jerk reaction rather than considering the Lakers' dreadful defense and the fact that Fox should get more touches with the Spurs' other top scorers limited or out.

Player projections for tonight’s home game range from 19.6 to 21.3 points from Fox, with my forecast coming out to 20.5 points from the San Antonio guard. That should have his Over 19.5 points priced around -110, but bet365 is offering EVEN money on that result.

Lakers vs Spurs same-game parlay

The Spurs get to come home in a “get right” game. They beat the Lakers in an NBA Cup contest last month.

This is a buy-low spot on Fox, who will continue to see a surplus of touches with the Spurs’ other stars limited.

Jarred Vanderbilt is making the most of extra minutes with the L.A. starters sitting. He snatched eight rebounds last night and has 7+ boards in three of his last four games.
