Tonight Ja Morant will face the Memphis Grizzlies for the first time since being traded to the Portlanded Trail Blazers.
While that will naturally draw plenty of attention, I'm backing super-rookie Cam Boozer to continue piling up the assists with my Grizzlies vs. Trail Blazers prediction.
Let's dive into my full card of NBA picks for Thursday, Oct. 29.
Grizzlies vs Trail Blazers prediction: Under 233.5
I like Under 233.5 points to 54%.
The Memphis Grizzlies have played really strong team defense out of the gate, ranking fifth with a 105.9 rating.
They also sit 19th in pace, playing a more structured and methodical style instead of sprinting the floor and trading buckets. No team has allowed fewer fast break points per game.
Conversely, the Portland Trail Blazers are 12th in defensive rating, first in defensive rebounding, and have allowed fewer second-chance points than all but the Hornets.
I don’t expect either team to get much easy offense, making the Under an appealing play.

Grizzlies vs Trail Blazers combo
This game is unlikely to feature much easy offense. Both teams rank Top-12 in defensive rating and neither team ranks in the top half of the league in pace.
It’ll be a slower, methodical game with lots of contested shots. That’ll help provide more rebound opportunities for Damian Lillard, who has consistently grabbed 4+ rebounds when getting anywhere close to regular minutes.
Cam Boozer averages double-digit potential assists per game, trailing only Ty Jerome among Grizzlies players. He is being trusted as a primary playmaker, and he has the passing ability and reads to find lanes in the half-court.
Grizzlies vs Trail Blazers combo
- Under 233.5
- Damian Lillard Over 3.5 rebounds
- Cam Boozer Over 3.5 assists
Grizzlies vs Trail Blazers player props
TOP PICK
Grizzlies player prop: Cam Boozer Over 3.5 assists
Play to 59%.
Boozer has picked up 4+ dimes in each of his first four games, and I don’t expect the streak to end tonight.
Boozer processes the game at such an elite level, and is already a primary facilitator for the Grizzlies.
He has recorded at least eight potentials in all four appearances, and is averaging nearly 11 per game.
In a game that should feature less floor running and more half-court offense, the Grizzlies will need Boozer’s super-computer of a brain to process the game and find holes in Portland’s defense.
Trail Blazers player prop: Damian Lillard Over 3.5 rebounds
I’m backing Lillard for 4+ boards to 55%.
Lillard is averaging nearly 30 minutes per game through his first three appearances.
He is a solid rebounding guard who has consistently cleared 3.5 boards when given a full workload.
Isolating games in which he played his projected minutes (26-36), Lillard has scooped up at least four rebounds in 28 of the last 33 contests. That’s a juicy 84.8% clear rate.
If the defense is good on both sides, as expected, there should be plenty of loose balls to collect.
