The Lakers' new-look offense is rolling and slides into Sacramento to face a struggling Kings team. Jason Logan gives his best NBA picks for this California clash, and he's expecting plenty of points.

The Los Angeles Lakers try to make this a November to remember when they visit the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center tonight, and I'm diving in with my Lakers vs. Kings predictions.

Los Angeles opened the month with two straight wins and appears to be on track for another one while listed as a double-digit road favorite in Sacramento.

My NBA picks measure L.A.’s momentum and gauge a notable mismatch, giving you my best bets for Nov. 4.

 TOP PICK
Lakers vs Kings prediction: Over 234.5

It’s only been two weeks, but J.J. Redick’s new offense is making a massive difference for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Redick retooled Los Angeles’ approach this offseason, with the departure of LeBron James allowing him to shift the focus to Luka Doncic.

The Lakers' head coach wanted the star guard playing off the ball more, with an emphasis on quicker decision-making and an uptick in 3-pointers.

That’s what we’ve seen heading into this mid-week matchup with the Sacramento Kings, with L.A. touting the top-rated scoring attack and a 5-3 Over/Under mark.

The Kings don’t provide much pushback while ranked 28th in defensive rating, and their pace of play steers into the skid. I like the Over for any total shorter than 237 points.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Sacramento allows a league-high 32.1 points per game to transition attacks. Meanwhile, the Lakers sit among the top transition offenses (seventh in frequency) with a 1.21 points-per-play average in transition (fifth).

Lakers vs Kings combo

The Lakers’ top-ranked offense keeps rolling against one of the worst defenses in the land. However, the Kings are back home, and their uptempo attack picks up the pace while also doing damage from deep.

Walker Kessler abuses an undermanned and undersized Sacramento frontcourt allowing the most points in the paint. The Lakers are giving Kessler a larger role in the offense, and that shows in his scoring uptick. His projections flirt with 14 points.

Rookie guard Darius Acuff isn’t shying away from shooting the ball. He’s among the NBA leaders in field-goal attempts, including plenty of 3-point looks. Game script and style prompts Acuff to let it fly from deep, making three shots from downtown tonight.

Lakers vs Kings combo

  • Over 234.5
  • Walker Kessler Over 12.5 points
  • Darius Acuff Over 2.5 3-pointers

Lakers vs Kings player props

Lakers player prop: Walker Kessler Over 12.5 points

Kessler is enjoying life in La-La Land.

He’s averaging more than 14 points and 10 rebounds to start his career in the purple and gold and is set up for another strong showing in Sacramento.

Kessler is coming off one of his busiest offensive outings, firing up 13 FGAs during the shootout win over the Miami Heat. He made seven of those shots and finished with 15 points in 32 minutes against a star-studded Heat frontcourt.

The Kings’ defense is dreadful, with the softest spot inside the key. Sacramento gives up an NBA-high 56.6 points in the paint per game.

The Kings' frontcourt is missing big bodies heading into Wednesday, with Keegan Murray and Maxime Raynaud out, and Precious Achiuwa listed as doubtful. Kessler will exploit some advantageous size matchups when Domantas Sabonis switches off.

Kings player prop: Darius Acuff Over 2.5 3-pointers

Teammates love catching a lift to practice with Darius Acuff. Apparently, the rookie guard sees nothing but green lights.

Acuff isn’t slowly acclimating to the pro game. Instead, he’s fired up 165 total shots in his first seven games (second most in the NBA), boasting a usage rate of 32.3%.

A good chunk of those attempts have come from beyond the arc, with Acuff launching an average of 9.3 per game. He’s knocking down just three of those per outing.

Los Angeles is watching foes fire at 37% from distance while allowing almost 15 3-pointers per contest. That perimeter defense has softened in recent showings, averaging more than 18 triples given up in the last three games.

Acuff’s projections hover around 2.5 makes from downtown, but he’s notched three-plus 3-pointers in three of his last four games.

Given the big spread and tonight’s opponent, Acuff will continue to be aggressive from beyond the arc. The game script will likely lead to the Kings trailing significantly, with the Lakers active from outside. That often prompts opponents to counter with 3-balls of their own.
