The latest Battle of Los Angeles will bleed purple and gold on Friday night as we put all of our chips in on the Lakers in a one-sided, overpowering performance.

My Clippers vs. Lakers prediction is safe, but playing it safe shouldn't necessarily be considered a bad thing. For a particular matchup that has numerous signs pointing in one direction, there's no harm in going with what feels like a sure thing.

As it pertains to tonight's festivities, that "sure thing" is taking the Lakers outright in the win column, even with such a result trading at a high number.

Tipoff tonight is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET at Crypto.com Arena.

Let's dive into my analysis and NBA picks for this showdown of both local and Pacific Division rivals on Friday, Oct. 23.

 TOP PICK
Clippers vs Lakers prediction: Lakers moneyline

Since the start of the 2023-24 regular season, the Los Angeles Clippers have put up a goose egg, going 0-6 straight up with just a single cover of the spread along the way.

In defense of the visitors, of the aforementioned six consecutive losses, all but one was determined by six points or fewer. That's why I'm veering away from a lopsided spread of -9.5, which I'd only feel comfortable at around -6.5, if that.

The Los Angeles Lakers received a combined 77 points from three of their starters in a 127-105 decimation of the Golden State Warriors, with Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, and Walker Kessler shooting 60 percent from the field. That three-headed monster is more terrifying than anything the Clippers just encountered, and that's putting it lightly.

Even with defensive options on the wing at their disposal, I don't foresee it being enough for the away side to put a crack in the armor of the home Lakers. It's too much offense to ultimately keep up with over four quarters.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Lakers closed out the 2025-26 campaign with a flawless 4-0 record SU coming out of the All-Star break after having blown out an opponent by 20 points or more. All four of those results were successfully covered, and two had the Lakers listed as a double-digit favorite.

Clippers vs Lakers combo

Historical numbers suggest an Under is forthcoming, as the Clippers and Lakers have gone 4-7 in the totals market in their last 11 matchups since Jan. 7, 2024. Of the five most recent Unders, all were within five points of Friday's total.

Kessler went a perfect 12-of-12 against the Warriors, and while that's highly unlikely to repeat itself here, Doncic's willingness to feed the big man early and often does inspire confidence for an Over here.

It's safe to assume Brook Lopez is going to get some run for head coach Tyronn Lue in an attempt to drag Kessler away from the basket on offence. Defensively, purely to go size for size, Lopez is in good shape to build off of his 11-rebound line from Wednesday.

Clippers vs Lakers combo

  • Walker Kessler Over 14.5 points
  • Under 225.5
  • Brook Lopez Over 4.5 rebounds

Clippers vs Lakers player props

Clippers player prop: Rui Hachimura Under 17.5 Points

Perhaps by default due to a lack of viable options surrounding him, former Laker and current Clipper Rui Hachimura is being thrust into a No. 2 role behind Garland that he's not well equipped to have.

His 13 shot attempts against Sacramento were the second-most on the Clippers, but Hachimura only converted three in 32 minutes for 10 total points.

He'll need to bounce back in a major way here to go Over this prop and score at least 18 points. In his last season with the Lakers, though, the 6-foot-8 forward only recorded lines of 18 points or more in 13.2% of his games played.

This number is just too big, so try not to fall in love with the mindset that the Clippers have to feed Hachimura looks out of necessity, when that roster will take whatever it can get from whomever it can get it from.

Lakers player prop: Luka Doncic Over 7.5 Assists

Since being dealt by the Dallas Mavericks, in six total looks at the Clippers, Doncic has proven that sharing is caring by contributing eight assists per contest in 34.5 minutes of action as a member of the Lakers.

Of those six games, the six-time All-Star floor general toppled Friday's prop of 7.5 dimes on four occasions, reaching double digits twice.

It's a one-game sample, of course, but Doncic's usage rate of 40.1 versus Golden State just goes to show that the ball, offense, and all of head coach JJ Redick's schemes are going to continue running through the superstar as much as possible.

Doncic had long pined for a big man to work off of, and now that he has a 7-footer in Kessler at his disposal, the upside for high-digit assists on a more consistent basis has gone through the roof.
