Expert NBA ATS picks: Oct. 24

Heat vs Hornets: Heat Heat -3.5

The Miami Heat have yet to win a game, but this is a clear bounce-back spot for them.

The Charlotte Hornets remain without several key players, and they were just beaten 128-81 by the Atlanta Hawks, committing 27 turnovers.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo should overwhelm Charlotte inside.

Bucks vs 76ers: Bucks Bucks +12.5

Don't get me wrong, the Philadelphia 76ers have looked very impressive. They're 2-0, but both victories came by six and eight points, respectively.

The Milwaukee Bucks are winless through two games, but they're averaging 120 PPG, and LeBron James is questionable tonight. Milwaukee could keep this within the number.

Nets vs Cavaliers: Nets Nets +11.5

The Cleveland Cavaliers blew a 29-point lead in their season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers, and while they should win this game against the Brooklyn Nets, the spread is too much for me.

The Nets have two legitimate weapons in Julius Randle and Michael Porter Jr., while the Cavs have yet to prove they can stay consistent throughout four quarters.

Spurs vs Mavericks: SpursSpurs -11.5

Cooper Flagg suffered a shoulder injury in his last game, leaving the Dallas Mavericks without their top scorer.

While the San Antonio Spurs are 0-2, this is a team that was in the NBA Finals earlier in the year, and it's only a matter of time until Victor Wembanyama and Co. figure it out.

With Flagg unavailable, covering 11.5 points becomes much more attainable.

Wizards vs Bulls: Bulls +1.5

The Washington Wizards just lost by 10 points to the Toronto Raptors, committing 23 turnovers and getting outscored by 20 points in the paint.

The Chicago Bulls return home here after beating the Bucks, where seven different players finished in double figures. I'll take the Bulls with the points.

Rockets vs Hawks: Hawks -1.5

I'm liking the Atlanta Hawks in this spot. They've looked fundamentally sound on both ends of the floor, winning both of their games.

The victory over Charlotte allowed some of their starters to rest, while the Houston Rockets took part in a physical contest with the Spurs. I'll take a slim win for the Hawks.

Pelicans vs Nuggets: Nuggets -11.5

The Denver Nuggets will be eager to bounce back after scoring just 84 points in its season opener against Oklahoma City.

The New Orleans Pelicans are playing the second night of a back-to-back following a narrow loss to Utah, and with Yves Missi dealing with a knee injury, Nikola Jokic could dominate a depleted Pelicans frontcourt.

Warriors vs Suns: Suns -8.5

The Golden State Warriors are off to a 0-2 start and now face a difficult back-to-back on the road after losing to Memphis on Friday.

The Warriors are also missing several important rotation pieces, and while the Phoenix Suns struggled in their opener, they should benefit from fresher legs and home-court advantage.
