The San Diego Padres look to sweep away the Los Angeles Dodgers and build their lead in the NL West on Sunday afternoon.
My Dodgers vs. Padres predictions expect them to do just that in the best MLB picks on Sunday, August 24.
Dodgers vs Padres prediction
Dodgers vs Padres best bet: Padres moneyline (-110)
The San Diego Padres are rolling right now with five straight wins, while the Los Angeles Dodgers have lost three of their last four and four of six games so far on this road trip.
After splitting a four-game set at Coors Field — in which they were held to three runs in the two losses —, the Dodgers' only two runs in San Diego have come on Alex Freeland's first two home runs of his career. The team has managed just five hits against Yu Darvish, Nestor Cortes, and the stacked San Diego Bullpen.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto is set to face off against Nick Pivetta, and the Padres right-hander actually has better numbers this season. Pivetta is 13-4 with a 0.94 WHIP and 2.81 ERA; Yamamoto is 10-8 with a 1.07 WHIP and 2.90 ERA.
Pivetta has also really settled in over the last two months. He's 6-2 with 12 ER in 63.1 IP (1.71 ERA) across his last 10 starts since June 25.
Caesars QuickPick: Our Dodgers vs Padres same-game parlay (SGP)
We’re stretching our ML best bet out to the run line here, which the Padres have covered in eight of the last nine games.
The Dodgers’ bats are cold right now, and Pivetta should be able to keep them from putting up too many runs. This should be an intense game with another Under cashing.
Yamamoto has at least four strikeouts in 22 of 24 starts, including at least five in 19 outings. The Padres don’t strike out much, but he should be able to get a handful.
