The Chicago Cubs are home favorites over the Atlanta Braves ahead of their 7:40 p.m. ET first pitch at Wrigley Field on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

My top Braves vs. Cubs prediction and MLB picks call for Chicago to make it two in a row over Atlanta, with this game also going Over the number tonight.

Who will win Braves vs Cubs today: Cubs

For help understanding probabilities, see our odds calculator.

The Chicago Cubs have lit up lefties this season with a league-high wOBA and ISO, and they draw susceptible Atlanta Braves southpaw Martin Perez tonight, so I like the Cubbies moneyline to 59%.

Perez is winless across his past five starts with an alarming 5.77 xERA and 5.13 xFIP, and even with the Chicago lineup dropping to a 10th-ranked xwOBA and 15th-ranked wOBA in September, the Cubs are still well above Atlanta’s respective. 26th- and 23rd-ranked marks.

As a result, I’m confident in Chicago veteran Kevin Gausman navigating the Atlanta lineup just well enough to bring home the win, given his 4.17 xERA and 3.32 xFIP are well below his 5.31 ERA since joining the North Siders.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Chicago Cubs are 26th in BABIP in September despite ranking sixth in squared-up contact rate.

Braves vs Cubs Over/Under pick: Over 8.5

Chicago is set up to do the heavy lifting to send this total Over the number, and I recommend it to 54% because Atlanta ranks 10th in both wOBA and ISO against righties for the year.

After all, while there’s a case for Gausman improving, those numbers hardly jump off the page. He’s also allowed three or more runs in four of seven starts with Chicago.

Finally, I also value the Cubbies playing to the Over in 18 of their last 30 games (+7.20 Units / 22% ROI)

Braves vs Cubs home run prediction: Alex Bregman

With 47 career plate appearances against Perez, Chicago star Alex Bregman has the familiarity to cash in on this favorable matchup. Of course, Bregman has also paced the majors in ISO against lefties in the second half while ranking second in ideal attack angle rate.

Braves vs Cubs weather

Scattered thunderstorms pose a moderate weather risk at Wrigley Field tonight, and there is a 21% to 32% chance of rain that could cause a brief delay. A 10 mph northwest crosswind could also slightly alter the trajectory of fly balls.

Braves vs Cubs odds

  • Moneyline: Braves 43% | Cubs 58%
  • Run line: Braves +1.5 (62%) | Cubs -1.5 (39%)
  • Over/Under: Over 8.5 (51%) | Under 8.5 (50%)
