We have a busy betting slate in Major League Baseball today, including Game 2 between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Detroit Tigers.

Bo Bichette’s bat has come alive, and his offensive prop market has been extremely profitable over the last week. My Blue Jays vs. Tigers predictions believe he’ll continue to swing a hot bat today in this matinee game against Detroit.

Blue Jays predictions for May 17

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Bashing Bichette

Pick (-137 at BetVictor)

The bat is coming alive for Bo Bichette, who has five multi-hit games in his last seven outings. The Toronto Blue Jays slugger is hitting a team-best .407 over this stretch with seven extra base hits, including three homers and 11 RBIs.

Additionally, Bichette has collected 24 total bases over these past seven games, averaging 3.4 bases per contest.

Bichette’s total bases prop is set at 1.5 and is paying -108 on the Over, a number he’s surpassed in five of his last seven games.

Moreover, it’s the law of averages that is evening things out for Bichette’s offensive production.

Earlier in the season, he had poor luck in the batter's box. Before this stretch, he was a .275 hitter, despite holding an expected batting average of .318, which ranks him in the top 2% of all of Major League Baseball.

Now that Bichette has found his stroke, the hits and power have come, and the production has been elite.

As for the pitching matchup, Bichette has faced Detroit Tigers starter Reese Olson four times throughout his career, going 0-for-4. However, Olson has struggled against right-handed batters this season, allowing an OPS of .831, nearly 300 points above lefty hitters.

Bichette, a right-handed batter himself, has had considerably more success against right-handed pitching this year with a .312 average and 18 extra-base hits, including all four of his home runs. He’s also hit much better at home this season, where he’s maintained a .330 batting average with an OPS of .858.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Bo Bichette Over 1.5 total bases

Addison Barger 1+ hits

Reese Olson Over 1.5 earned runs

For the first leg of our SGP, we will stick with the best bet and take Bichette to go Over 1.5 total bases.

Next for my same-game parlay, I’ll double down on the Jays' offense and take mid-season surprise slugger Addison Barger to record a hit. He’s been a mainstay in the lineup since May 7 and has recorded at least one hit in seven of his last nine games, hitting .375 with 12 hits, six of which have gone for extra bases.

For the final leg of our SGP, I’ll continue to back the Blue Jays' offense by taking Olson to go Over 1.5 earned runs against. The Jays rank 2nd in both home runs and OPS over the past week as the offense breaks out in a big way. Considering the Jays have a heavy right-handed lineup, I believe they’ll attack Olson this afternoon, who struggles against righties in the batter's box.
