It all comes down to this.

It’s a must-win game for the Toronto Blue Jays, who are favored heavily this afternoon. I expect them to pull through, while getting a dominant outing from Kevin Gausman, who provides significantly more value to record the win than the team moneyline.

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Clutch gene

Kevin Gausman to record the win (+105 at BetVictor)

It’s Game 162 for the Toronto Blue Jays, and a win today earns them a division title, the one seed in the American League, home field advantage, and a bye to the ALDS. So yeah, a lot is on the line.

Naturally, the Jays are relying on their ace, Kevin Gausman, to get the job done, and I expect him to come through.

Gausman has been playing some quality baseball lately, sporting a 2.37 ERA with 57 strikeouts over his last nine starts. He's allowed two or less runs in all but two of those outings. Gausman has been pitching deep into these games, too, averaging nearly 7.0 innings per start.

However, it’s his pitching profile that gives me confidence in him having success tonight. Gausman establishes the fastball early and then gets the swing and misses on his deadly splitter.

The Rays struggle mightily with the fastball — ranking 30th in whiff rate and 29th on strikeouts against four-seamers — and then they own the third-worst batting average in the league, hitting just .182 against the splitter... Gausman's bread and butter out-pitch.

Additionally, there’s significantly more value in betting the pitcher’s wins prop than the Jays' moneyline, which is set at -220. I’ll hitch my wagon to the starter and get them to win at plus money.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Kevin Gausman to record the win

Kevin Gausman Over 18.5 outs

George Springer Over 1.5 total bases

Gausman is averaging 20 outs per game over his last nine starts, and his pitching profile should allow him to make quick work of this Rays lineup.

George Springer is hitting the ball well again, going Over this total in five of his last eight games. He also has a .995 OPS at the Rogers Centre this season, averaging 2.01 bases per home game.
