We’ve got a busy betting slate around Major League Baseball today, including a matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Blue Jays predictions for September 27

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Can't tame Yesavage

Trey Yesavage Over 4.5 strikeouts (+120 at BetVictor)

The Toronto Blue Jays look for a third straight win when they host the Tampa Bay Rays this afternoon.

Trey Yesavage made his MLB debut just 12 days ago against this Rays squad, tossing five innings of one-run baseball while striking out nine. The rookie hurler used a heavy dose of the four-seam fastball in that matchup, which happens to be the kryptonite of this Tampa Bay lineup.

Tampa owns a lowly .247 xBA against the four-seamer, while whiffing at the highest rate in baseball and also ranking as the second-worst strikeout team against the fastball (25.8%).

Yesavage’s strikeout prop is set at 4.5 this afternoon and is paying plus money. That’s value I simply cannot pass up, considering how well his pitching profile matches up to this lineup.

Additionally, Yesavage has been a strikeout pitcher all season. He’s averaging 11 per nine innings through his first two big league starts after posting a 14.7 K/9 across four minor league levels this season.

Nobody seems to have an answer at any level for his unique arm slot and pitch location, so I doubt Tampa figures him out in Game 161.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Trey Yesavage Over 4.5 strikeouts

Trey Yesavage Under 5.5 hits allowed

George Springer Over 1.5 total bases

For the second leg of the SGP, I’ll continue to back Yesavage and take the Under on his hits total, which is posted at 5.5. He’s stayed under that number in both his previous starts, allowing just three hits to Tampa in his debut start.

For the final leg, I’ll take George Springer to go Over 1.5 total bases. Springer is hitting the ball well again, clearing this total in five of his last seven games. He also has a .996 OPS at the Rogers Centre this season, averaging 2.02 bases per home game.
