We have a busy betting slate in Major League Baseball this afternoon, including a clash between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Struggling righty Shane Baz starts for Tampa tonight against a Toronto offense that’s rounding into form. Find out why that combination has my Blue Jays predictions and MLB picks fading Baz tonight.

Blue Jays predictions for May 24

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Toronto's bats produce against Baz

Shane Baz Over 2.5 earned runs (-120 at BetVictor)

Shane Baz has gone Over 2.5 runs in four straight outings, including his last start against the Toronto Blue Jays on May 13, where he gave up two homers and three runs before being yanked after 4 2/3 innings.

The Tampa Bay Rays righty has been struggling mightily recently. He’s been hit hard over his last four outings with an ERA of 9.61 in that stretch, giving up 5.25 runs per game.

Furthermore, his underlying metrics are poor this season. He has a 3.99 xERA with a barrel rate and hard-hit percentage below the 20th percentile. It's resulted in the sixth-most runs given up this season, including an MLB-high 21 earned runs in May. This should have the Blue Jays excited heading into tonight’s matchup.

Toronto’s offense has finally arrived over the last couple of weeks. The Jays are 9-6 in their previous 15 games, averaging 8.8 hits per night with a .273 batting average. The Blue Birds also put up 5.3 runs per game in this stretch, ranking ninth in baseball.

Considering Baz’s struggles on the mound and Toronto’s offense rounding into form, I expect Toronto's bats to put together a few runs on the Tampa Bay righty.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Shane Baz Over 2.5 earned runs

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 hits

Shane Baz Over 4.5 hits allowed

I’ll continue to fade Baz tonight and take the Over on his 4.5-hit total. He’s allowed 30 hits over his last four games with a BABIP of .358.

For the final leg of our SGP, I’ll take Vladimir Guerrero Jr to go Over 0.5 hits. He has four hits in 10 at-bats against Baz and has recorded a hit in 19 of his last 23 games.
