Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Berrios hushes Philly bats

Jose Berrios Under 5.5 hits allowed (-115 at BetVictor)

The Toronto Blue Jays hope to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Phillies when they send out one of their top starting pitchers to give them the best chance.

Jose Berrios has allowed fewer than five hits in four straight outings and six of his last seven, including a start against this Phillies lineup, where he threw six innings of four-hit baseball — giving up just one run.

Additionally, Berrios has had significantly better starts on the road this year than at home, with a 2.50 ERA and allowing just 4.66 hits per contest.

Despite putting up 11 runs in the first two games of the series, Philadelphia has struggled with the bat this month with an 84 wRC+, ranking 26th in baseball, and a team batting average of .232 in the same stretch.

Berrios has faced the Phils four times in his career and has limited this lineup to a .250 batting average, allowing an average of 4.5 hits per contest while posting three quality starts in those outings.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Jose Berrios Under 5.5 hits allowed

Jose Berrios Under 2.5 earned runs

Alejandro Kirk Over 0.5 singles

I’ll continue to ride Berrios’s hot hand and take Under 2.5 earned runs. He gave up just one run to this exact lineup 11 days ago and has gone Under this number in seven of his last nine starts.

Alejandro Kirk's eight-game hitting streak was snapped yesterday, but he’s hitting .413 in June with 19 hits. Of those, 13 have been for one base, and 80% of his hits all season have been one baggers.
