We’ve got preseason action from Raymond James Stadium this Saturday with the Tennessee Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers facing off. We have the opportunity to see this year’s first overall pick in the NFL Draft, Cam Ward, make his debut for the Titans.

Ward will be hoping to start his career off with a win, and his team is a 3-point favorite in the NFL odds, but our Titans vs. Buccaneers predictions and NFL picks are counting on some home cooking on August 9.

Titans vs Buccaneers Best bet: Buccaneers +3 (-105 at bet365)

The Tennessee Titans are favorites, thanks in part to Brian Callahan confirming that we’re going to see former Miami man Cam Ward under center.

Just how well Ward will perform is impossible to know, but he’s shown glimpses at training camp that indicate he could be a worthy NFL starter. Ward spoke about the talent on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense following their joint practice this week, and it remains to be seen if he can beat them on Saturday.

With Will Levis out for the season, it’s fair to say that the depth chart behind Ward is unconvincing to say the least, with Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle both being experienced, low-ceiling talents. Depth in talent is a major problem for this Titans’ roster, at least on offense, and it’s hard to see them racking up points once the starters have been pulled.

We’re yet to get confirmation if Baker Mayfield will start, but it seems unlikely that the Bucs will risk the veteran. That likely means plenty of Kyle Trask and a sprinkling of the newly-signed Teddy Bridgewater.

That backup pairing could be the decisive aspect of this game with Trask well-versed in the Bucs’ offensive system and Bridgewater being a hugely-experienced veteran. He may have been out of the league but he’s infinitely better than either Allen or Boyle for the Titans.

Beyond the quarterbacks, there’s real talent on the Bucs’ roster with first-round pick Emeka Egbuka set to make his NFL debut. He’s received huge praise from Mayfield at camp and could have a big day against second-string Titans defensive backs.

Todd Bowles will run a strong defense, regardless of how many starters are out, and he should be able to put pressure on the Titans’ QBs.

Callahan may be unbeaten as a preseason HC, but all good things must come to an end. The Bucs have the depth across their roster to secure the win here, but just to be safe, let’s take the Buccaneers and the points to give ourselves some wiggle room.
