"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey will return to the octagon and pick up a win over her inactive opponent.

A cross-generational clash between the two most iconic competitors in women’s mixed martial arts is set for Saturday night on Netflix, as Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano end their long retirements to collide in the main event of the inaugural MVP MMA event.

Netflix MVP MMA odds have Rousey as the favorite at -650, while Carano is currently listed as a +425 underdog.

Though this fight is a clash between two legends of the sport, my Rousey vs. Carano predictions give the nod to "Rowdy" Ronda on May 16.

It has been 17 years since Carano last competed professionally, ending her MMA career with a first-round TKO loss to Cris Cyborg before transitioning fully into acting.

While Ronda Rousey has also been away from MMA for roughly a decade, her run in professional wrestling through 2023 at least kept her involved in high-level athletic competition.

Between the activity gap and Rousey’s elite judo pedigree, this matchup strongly favors the former UFC champion, who should have little trouble forcing the fight to the ground against a massively inactive opponent.

Rousey vs Carano best bet: Rousey by submission (-200)

Rousey’s clearest path to victory is a familiar one: immediate pressure, clinch entries, and fast submissions.

Carano’s long inactivity and likely diminished footwork make it difficult to imagine her consistently defending takedowns or surviving prolonged grappling exchanges.

Unless Rousey uncharacteristically elects to strike instead of grapple, she should be able to rush Carano down, secure top position, and finish the fight quickly with a submission.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Both Rousey and Carano ended their MMA careers with first-round TKO losses.
