Rams vs Eagles Predictions - Early Picks & Odds for Week 3

The Eagles are fresh off a huge win against the Chiefs, and their slow pace of play will grind down the L.A. Rams while keeping Jalen Hurts safe.

The Los Angeles Rams still have nightmares of a frosty fumble-filled fourth quarter in Philadelphia last January.

L.A., who lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 28-22 in the NFC Divisional Round, will see nicer weather for this Sunday’s trip back to Lincoln Financial Field, but expect a cold shoulder from the reigning Super Bowl champs.

Here are my early Rams vs. Eagles predictions and NFL picks for September 21.

Rams vs Eagles predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Rams vs Eagles spread pick: Philadelphia -3.5

-108 at FanDuel

This point spread opened between -4 and -4.5 on Sunday night, and early play snatched up the points with the Los Angeles Rams.

I see the appeal of Los Angeles at +4 and higher, given that four is an undervalued key number in football betting. The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a massively emotional matchup after taking a win from Kansas City at Arrowhead, so there’s potential for a letdown.

The Rams’ defense has been exceptional through two games, ranking No. 2 in EPA allowed per play and success rate against. Much of that success stems from a four-man pass rush getting to rival QBs for eight sacks.

However, those sacks were collected against Houston and Tennessee — two of the worst offensive lines in the league. Philadelphia is a big step up in pass protection and tames L.A.’s pressure with a dominant running game.

At +4 or higher, I’d consider Los Angeles. But at -3.5, I’ll lean Philadelphia.

Early Rams vs Eagles total pick: Under 45.5

-105 at FanDuel

The Rams won a grinder of a game in Week 1, edging Houston 14-9. Even Sunday’s one-sided win over Tennessee was a slog through three quarters, with L.A. leading 20-16 before breaking it open for 13 points in the final frame.

Keeping Stafford safe and upright is key to L.A.’s success, so I expect a lot of handoffs and short, quick throws to alleviate the pressure on the fragile passer.

The Rams have hit some bigger plays in the opening two games — 11 passes of 20+ yards — but the Eagles are renowned for keeping everything in front of them.

Philadelphia’s offense is fine being simple and slowly plodding down the field. The Eagles’ rushing attack continues to be elite, chewing up first downs and eating up clock and possession.

Philly averaged 8.4 yards per carry against L.A. in the playoffs and will stick to the ground game in Week 3. This one should have a postseason-like atmosphere, adding intensity and keeping points at a premium. I’m leaning Under.
