Robert Saleh doesn't have to wait long for a reunion with his former team, and my Jets vs. Titans prediction has Tennessee getting the better of New York in Week 1.
Saleh begins his tenure in Nashville with Cam Ward leading the offense, and the Titans enter this afternoon's matchup as slim 1.5-point home favorites.
I'm backing Tennessee to start the new era with a victory.

TOP PICK
Jets vs Titans prediction: Titans -1.5
As a fan of their new coaching staff and a shareholder in QB Cam Ward stock, I expect the same old New York Jets this season, so I'm willing to take the Tennessee Titans -1.5 up to -2.5 in Week 1.
First of all, one of my favorite handicapping angles is the "revenge game," and this is first-year Titans head coach Robert Saleh's Revenge Game. Saleh coached the Jets from 2021-24 and was fired five games into his final season.
He is a player-friendly, defensive coach, and the Titans spent the most money this offseason, so Saleh got to build his team. His offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll, is in the right role after an unsuccessful stint in New York.
The Titans got Ward a No. 1 wide receiver by taking Carnell Tate with the fourth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and they've invested in their offensive line in recent years. Call me crazy, but Daboll could turn this offense into a near-average NFL unit.
Finally, I'm completely out on Jets first-year QB Geno Smith, who was so terrible in his only season with the Raiders that they got the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.
That said, there is a non-zero chance the Jets are tanking for the next draft's first overall pick.

Jets vs Titans combo
I'm leaving a little money on the table, but I prefer using Tennessee's moneyline in my combo than fuss with the points.
Plus, I'm adding picks based on my reads of these quarterbacks. Ward will "leave it all out on the field" in Week 1.
Smith has thrown 32 interceptions in 32 games for the Seahawks and Raiders over the last two seasons, and has been picked off at least once in 21 of those games.
Jets vs Titans combo
- Titans moneyline
- Cam Ward 10+ rushing yards
- Geno Smith 1+ interceptions
Jets vs Titans touchdown scorer: Wan'Dale Robinson (19%)
I like this number (+397 payout) because Robinson had a team-high 140 targets while playing for Daboll and the Giants over the last two seasons. Robinson had 185 receptions in 2024-25 and seven touchdowns.
He is Tennessee's slot receiver, and Pro Football Focus graded NYJ's projected starting slot cornerback, Jarvis Brownlee Jr., 101st out of 112 qualifying corners. Plus, the Jets had the worst efficiency vs. slot receivers, according to FTN's 2026 almanac.
Jets vs Titans player prop: Cam Ward 10+ rushing yards
Even though I'm a "Cam Ward Guy," he needs to improve dramatically in his second season to avoid the "bust" label. That pressure should equal more desperation, which could lead to Ward scrambling.
Granted, he only ran for 10+ yards in six games last season, but Ward had 2+ attempts in 12 games. If he takes off twice against the Jets, I'll take my chances with him clearing this number.
Lastly, as the New York Giants' head coach from 2022-25, Daboll designed many running plays for former QB Daniel Jones. I'm expecting Daboll to use Ward's mobility similarly this season.

Jets vs Titans weather
Heat will be the biggest issue at Nissan Stadium this afternoon for Jets vs. Titans, according to our Jason Logan:
"Temperatures in the low 90s will feel like 109 degrees at Nissan Stadium. Winds top out at 8 mph West, blowing corner to corner. Neither offense utilizes no-huddle at a high rate, so beyond the humid conditions it’s a nice day in Nashville."
