The Atlanta Falcons travel to meet the Minnesota Vikings, and this SNF matchup sets the stage for key NFL player prop action.
This tilt offers one of the lowest totals on the board, but my Falcons vs. Vikings player props have found value in backing Justin Jefferson and J.J. McCarthy Overs.
Read on for my NFL picks for Sunday, September 14.
Falcons vs Vikings SNF props
Jefferson o72.5 rec yds (-114)
McCarthy o17.5 rush yds (-114)
London u5.5 recs (+116)
Justin Jefferson Over 72.5 receiving yards
Justin Jefferson is the centerpiece of the Minnesota Vikings' passing game and should be heavily featured on Sunday night.
Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy locked onto Jefferson in Week 1, targeting him seven times for 44 yards and an efficient 11 yards per reception.
The Atlanta Falcons' defense held Tampa Bay to just 167 passing yards in the opener, yet they still gave up three completions of 15 yards or more to the Buccaneers.
That type of coverage lapse is exactly where Jefferson excels, and I expect him to deploy his elite separation skills alongside his ability to go up and snatch away contested balls.
Jefferson is typically a high-volume wideout and should see enough targets to make him a strong bet to clear his receiving yards prop.
J.J. McCarthy Over 17.5 rushing yards
Vikings signal-caller J.J. McCarthy has a modest rushing yards prop and a reasonable price to take advantage of.
The Falcons’ pass rush hounded and pestered Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield, and he responded by rushing for 39 yards on five attempts.
Vikings fans saw a glimpse of the rushing prowess McCarthy displayed at Michigan, rushing for one touchdown and 25 yards on two attempts in his season opener.
I expect Atlanta to apply the defensive pressure because that’s what they do. I also anticipate McCarthy making plays with his feet and for him to clear his rushing prop total.
Drake London Under 5.5 receptions
Falcons wideout Drake London drew a massive 15 targets in the opener against Tampa Bay, but his volume could dip with Darnell Mooney expected back in the lineup.
Minnesota’s secondary looked shaky early last week yet tightened up by holding every Bears receiver but Rome Odunze under six catches.
Atlanta quarterback Michael Penix Jr. faces a blitz-happy Vikings defense that mixes a steady pass rush with tight-man coverage, making downfield completions a grind.
That pressure should funnel Atlanta’s offense back toward Bijan Robinson in the short game. With fewer high-percentage looks, London is likely to fall short of six receptions.
