The irony isn't lost when a guy named “Dallas” is constantly a thorn in the side of the Dallas Cowboys.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ tight end has been butting heads with his namesake (his dad is a big Cowboys fan) for a long time, and adds another run-in with “America’s Team” in Week 12.

Dallas Goedert is the focus of my Eagles vs. Cowboys predictions and NFL picks for Sunday, November 23.

Eagles vs Cowboys prediction

Eagles vs Cowboys Best bet: Dallas Goedert Over 32.5 receiving yards (-114)

Dallas Goedert’s production has been up and down this season, reflecting the hot-and-cold Philadelphia Eagles offense.

He’s coming off one of his quieter games, reeling in two of five targets for 24 yards in last week’s win over the Detroit Lions. In fact, Goedert has topped 30 yards receiving just once since Week 7 after besting that mark in four of his first five outings.

One of those games was a season-opening effort against the Dallas Cowboys, in which the tight end snagged all seven passes his way for 44 yards. That was a weird Week 1 matchup in which the offenses came out flying before a lightning delay cooled the contest for only three points in the second half.

For his career, Goedert naturally gets up to play Dallas. He’s posted 30 or more receiving yards in five of his last seven matchups with the NFC East rival while going for 40-plus in four of those clashes.

This year’s Dallas defense is different, however. New coordinator Matt Eberflus runs a lot more zone coverage than his predecessors in Big D, utilizing two high safeties at a high rate. While that can take away some deeper looks, it does allow savvy TEs like Goedert to find seams in the zone underneath.

The Cowboys have given up the sixth most receptions to tight ends so far, which has led to the 13th most receiving yards to the position. On Monday, Las Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers caught seven of 12 targets for 72 yards against this Dallas defense. The game before that, Arizona Cardinals TE Trey McBride went for 55 yards on 5-of-9 passes his way.

Week 12 player projections all sit well beyond Goedert’s current receiving yards prop, ranging from 38 yards to a ceiling of 48 yards on Sunday, with the bulk of models at 44-plus.

Eagles vs Cowboys same-game parlay

The Eagles could be in for a fight in this divisional road game, but Philadelphia has so many ways to win while Dallas is going to have to outgun Vic Fangio’s defense. Not likely. Eagles win outright.

Goedert had a nice day against Dallas in Week 1 and faces a bad Cowboys pass defense getting rolled by TEs in recent weeks.

Saquon Barkley can strike on the ground or through the air, facing a Cowboys team that’s been giving up “home run” plays all season.

Our big-ticket SGP: Diamond Dallas Page

The Eagles ride a four-game winning streak into Arlington and have stolen victories in some of the toughest venues in the league this season.

Goedert’s player projections are all north of his receiving total with a ceiling closer to 50 yards.

Barkley scored a touchdown against the Cowboys in Week 1 and faces the 29th-ranked red-zone defense in terms of TD percentage.

With this Philly secondary locking up CeeDee and Pickens, Jake Ferguson finds his way into the end zone for the eighth time in eight games.
