Ford Field will play host to a key game in the NFC North rivalry with the Detroit Lions hosting the Chicago Bears on Sunday, September 14.

Both teams dropped their season openers and will be looking to avoid an 0-2 start.

My top NFL picks and Bears vs. Lions predictions are calling for Detroit to cover the number in a high-scoring bout between the divisional rivals.

Bears vs Lions prediction

Bears vs Lions Best bet: Lions -6.5 (-104)

The Chicago Bears allowed the Minnesota Vikings to post 21 fourth-quarter points on Monday Night Football, and now Chicago hits the highway on a short week to face the multifaceted attack of the Detroit Lions.

Detroit paced the NFL in points per home game last season, remember, and it was also Minny quarterback J.J. McCarthy’s first career start in Week 1.

While the Lions are definitely also licking their wounds after their own Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers, Detroit went 7-2 at home last year and has covered the spread in 10 consecutive games following a loss.

Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams looked the part for the majority of Monday night, but I’m expecting a bounce-back showing from the Detroit defense, too.

Finally, while the early -5.5 spreads are gone, I’m still happy laying the points with Detroit Under the key number of 7.

Bears vs Lions same-game parlay

In addition to the Lions pacing the NFL in points per home game last season, these two teams combined for 51 points in their last meeting in December, and Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams was solid in his 2025 debut.

The second-year QB finished with an above-average success rate, expected completion percentage and air yards while also rushing for 58 yards and a score.

Chicago wide receiver Rome Odunze will remain a key piece in the passing game, and he garnered nine targets.

So, while he finished with just 37 receiving yards, he did find pay dirt and projects to be a go-to option in the aerial attack for Williams.
