I've upgraded LSU’s power rating four points since the start of the season, and yet I only make it a 1-point favorite here.
LSU’s dominant performance vs. Clemson in Week 1 might not be as impressive as it seems, given Clemson could be lucky to make a bowl game this year.
Tigers' quarterback Sam Leavitt has quietly thrown four interceptions this season and was shockingly put on the injury report this week. He was removed from it on Friday, but is he 100% healthy? He does have an extensive injury history.
Finally, I’m expecting one of the most hostile atmospheres in college football this season. Typically, I give Ole Miss 3.0 points for home-field advantage, as they're on a 23-1 straight-up run at home. I gave the Rebels an extra 0.5 point here.
Rob Paul’s expert pick: LSU -2.5

With Lane Kiffin on one side and Trinidad Chambliss on the other, the offenses get the headlines, but this game will come down to the defensive differences.
LSU's defense has been dominant under Blake Baker, ranking third nationally in havoc rate (30.2%), thanks in part to a pair of pass rushers who are Top 25 nationally in pressures — Princewill Umanmielen (10) and Jordan Ross (eight).
The Tigers' defense is Top 10 in both EPA per rush and pass, while Ole Miss' defense is outside the Top 80 in both and sits third-to-last in the SEC in havoc rate (15.5%).
Sam Leavitt or not, if Chambliss isn't wearing a Superman cape for four quarters, he won't stop Lane from getting the W in his return to Oxford. (I fully believe Leavitt will play, and if he does, I like LSU to cover -3.5 or better.)
Colby Marchio's expert pick: Over 57.5

LSU vs. Ole Miss has all the makings of absolute mayhem. Lane Kiffin returns to Oxford for the first time since leaving the Rebels for LSU, and you already know the Ole Miss faithful will have plenty to say.
Add in Kiffin’s love for the villain role, a hostile environment, and uncertainty surrounding LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt, and I want no part of picking a side. I want points.
Both teams have plenty of motivation, and I expect a fast-paced game with plenty of scoring opportunities. I grabbed the Over at 58.5, but 57.5 is still available.
Chris Vasile’s expert pick: Under 57.5

LSU’s defense is the biggest reason I’m betting the Under. The Tigers have allowed just 24 points through two games and have consistently created pressure, which gives Ole Miss its toughest offensive test of the season.
I still trust Trinidad Chambliss and the Rebels to find enough offense to compete at home, but I don’t expect either side to consistently produce explosive drives. Something in the neighborhood of 27-24 keeps this comfortably below 57.5.
