Georgia Tech and NC State square off Saturday night with plenty on the line — at least for one side.

A victory for the Yellow Jackets would push them to 8-0 for the first time since the 1960s, solidifying their position as a legitimate College Football Playoff contender as the season enters its final stretch.

Meanwhile, the Wolfpack will be eager to play spoiler, hoping to deliver a statement win and salvage some pride after what’s been a disappointing campaign so far.

Here’s how I see it playing out in my Georgia Tech vs. NC State predictions and college football picks for Saturday, November 1.

Georgia Tech vs NC State prediction

Georgia Tech vs NC State best bet: Over 58.5 (-110 at FanDuel)

The starting point for my best bet on Over 58.5 is a look at the NC State offense. I do not think especially highly of the group overall, but if we know one thing, it is that the Wolfpack can score and have shown it all season.

Entering this game, the Wolfpack have averaged 27 points per game, which places them toward the high end of the ACC and 66th nationally. The metrics suggest success in this matchup as well.

NC State has been one of the most efficient passing offenses in the country, ranking 18th in EPA per dropback. I think they lean into that for two reasons: first, I suspect they will be trailing; second, this Georgia Tech defense has not been great, particularly at limiting explosive plays.

The Yellow Jackets sit in the bottom 40 percent of college football in explosive passing rate allowed, and behind QB CJ Bailey, NC State has created explosives in bunches.

On the other side, Georgia Tech can largely take its pick of what to attack. I would expect a big day for QB Haynes King in the passing game. By now he is close to a household name, and he will see a secondary that ranks 106th nationally in EPA per dropback.

I expect plenty of fireworks in this one.

Georgia Tech vs NC State same-game parlay

I start my same-game parlay with Georgia Tech covering. This simply comes down to a strong belief that the Yellow Jackets have a much more well-rounded offense and a slightly better defense.

I’ll also take Haynes King to go over his passing yards for reasons already mentioned. It’s helpful that I expect NC State to apply a good amount of game pressure throughout the matchup, which will force Georgia Tech to look to the air more.

Georgia Tech vs NC State SGP

  • Over 58.5
  • Georgia Tech -5.5
  • Haynes King Over 220.5 passing yards

Our deep-ball SGP: Smothers, Canion take it up a notch

As much as I’ve talked about Georgia Tech’s struggles in pass defense, they’ve also allowed plenty of explosive plays on the ground. With that in mind, I’ll grab NC State’s home run hitter, Hollywood Smothers, to go Over his rushing yards total.

I’ll finish with Isiah Canion to go over a small receiving-yard total. His production has been up and down over the last four games, but he’s exceeded it twice in that stretch. Those two games both came against defenses with similar qualities to NC State.

Georgia Tech vs NC State SGP

  • Over 58.5
  • Georgia Tech -5.5
  • Haynes King Over 220.5 passing yards
  • Hollywood Smothers Over 79.5 rushing yards
  • Isiah Canion Over 32.5 receiving yards

Georgia Tech, the NC State defense is just so poor that I can’t possibly back them against such an efficient offense.

Georgia Tech vs NC State Over/Under prediction

Over, both of these offenses have clear paths to scoring against two below-average defenses – it’s my best bet.
