Midweek MACtion returns in style on Tuesday, Nov. 3, including Buffalo vs. Miami (OH) (-6.5), a matchup between two teams near the top of the standings with identical 3-1 records in MAC play.
The RedHawks have hardly looked infallible lately, so my Buffalo vs. Miami (OH) prediction backs the underdog in a low-scoring contest (O/U 44.5).
Read on for my full college football picks for this Tuesday, Nov. 3 matchup, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
TOP PICK
Who will win Buffalo vs Miami (OH): Buffalo +6.5
I'm on Buffalo at +6 or better.
Miami (OH) has looked mighty beatable since moving to Caleb Heavner under center. The RedHawks lost to lowly Bowling Green (24-20), narrowly topped Massachusetts and its backup quarterback while gaining just 260 total yards, benefited from four Akron turnovers in a lopsided win, and defeated 3-5 Central Michigan by a single point.
Buffalo is a sizable underdog due to its uninspiring season-long metrics, but those numbers don't tell the story of Pete Lembo's squad finding its identity over the last month-plus. The Bulls are averaging 217 rushing yards per game over their last five contests, winning four of them.
Running back Messiah Burch has topped the century mark in all five of those contests and averages a healthy 4.21 yards after contact per attempt (per PFF). He's a star Lembo can lean on in a close, low-scoring game.

Buffalo vs Miami (OH) Over/Under pick: Under 44.5
In a game where neither quarterback is trustworthy, the ground attacks will lead the way and keep the clock ticking.
Buffalo's Jason Wright averages 5.3 yards per attempt and has as many turnover-worthy passes (11) as big-time throws. A run-first approach can only go so far against a salty Miami front (17th in defensive line yards, 25th in stuff rate) that is holding opponents to 94.9 rushing yards per game and 3.3 yards per attempt.
The RedHawks like to slow the tempo (118th in seconds per snap at 28.7), and per-play efficiency will be hard to come by against a tough Buffalo defense that has held each of its last five opponents below 345 total yards.
Buffalo vs Miami (OH) combo
Miami hasn't accumulated 390 total yards in a game with Heavner at the helm of the offense. The RedHawks have mostly been able to survive by the skin of their teeth, but things will be dicey in a tight, low-scoring first half.
