The 2025 college football season is still young, and the action will continue to ramp up ahead of this weekend as No. 25 Boise State takes on South Florida at Raymond James Stadium tonight.

The Broncos are looking to prove that they’re still an elite team without superstar running back Ashton Jeanty. The Bulls will be challenged, and my Boise State vs. South Florida predictions and college football picks showcase why the visitors are poised to have a strong showing on Thursday, August 28.

Boise State vs South Florida prediction

Boise State vs South Florida best bet: Boise State -5.5 (-112)

The Boise State Broncos no longer have the best running back in college football at their disposal, but this team is plenty capable. Ten Broncos were named to the 2025 preseason Mountain West All-American team.

Redshirt junior Maddux Madsen was named the conference’s preseason Offensive Player of the Year and is expected to lead a more well-balanced Boise State attack after amassing 3,018 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns in his first season as a full-time starter in 2024.

The South Florida Bulls don’t appear to have the quality to keep up with a team that’s going for its third straight conference championship.

The Bulls are coming off a middling 7-6 season in which they struggled against ranked opponents. They’ve lost their last four games against ranked teams by at least seven points. South Florida’s average margin of defeat in those meetings was 20.5 points.

Boise State might not blow South Florida out but has the talent and consistency to cover the spread by at least a touchdown against a program that’s looking to bounce back from a down year.

Boise State vs South Florida same-game parlay

Boise State was one of college football’s most dominant road teams last season and averaged 37.3 points per game.

Byrum Brown’s return from injury will raise South Florida’s offensive potential because of his dynamic dual-threat abilities. I like him to get on the board early in this game.

Our deep-ball SGP: Madsen makes his mark

  • Madsen will have a larger role without Jeanty and threw for 304 yards against Penn State in his last outing. He’ll look to air it out more often in what could be his best season yet.

Boise State vs South Florida game predictions

Boise State vs South Florida moneyline prediction

Boise State is clearly the superior team on both sides of the ball. The Broncos have won straight up in 10 of their previous 11 games.

Boise State vs South Florida spread prediction

South Florida has lost its last four games against ranked opponents by a significant margin, highlighted by a 50-15 drubbing at the hands of No. 18 Miami last September.

Boise State vs South Florida Over/Under prediction

This game could be a barn burner given how explosive Boise State’s offense is coupled with the return of Brown for USF.
