Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had another strong performance against the Suns on Sunday, dropping a team-high 35 points alongside Jalen Williams (31 points) to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 111-99 victory. Gilgeous-Alexander shot an efficient 59 percent from the field (13-for-22) while sinking seven of eight from the free-throw line.

It marked the fourth straight game with 30-plus points for the Thunder point guard, who’s also shot at least 55% from the field on at least 20 attempts in each of those contests.

Outside of an uncharacteristic seven-point outing against the Nuggets on Oct. 29, Gilgeous-Alexander has had an incredibly consistent start to his season, dropping at least 20 points in nine of 10 games and 30-plus points in eight appearances. It’s still early but the point guard is also on pace for his most active season as a shooter, averaging a career-high 11.2 makes on 21.3 field-goal attempts per game.

SGA should be poised for another easy 30-plus point outing as he tips off against the San Antonio Spurs, who own the NBA’s worst defense, surrendering a whopping 124.2 points per game. San Antonio comes into this matchup having dropped five straight while giving up 127.6 points per game over that span. 

Gilgeous-Alexander is accounting for just over 25% of his team’s points so far, so if the Thunder can keep pace with the rest of the league and put up about 125 points vs. the Spurs, he should easily cash the Over on 31.5 points tonight.

After finishing second last in the NBA standings last season, San Antonio looks poised for another year in the basement. The Spurs added Victor Wembanyama with the first overall pick in this summer’s draft and he’s arguably been the lone bright spot on the team, leading San Antonio with 19.7 points per game. Outside of Wemby, the Spurs don’t have anything that’ll blow you away offensively, and coupling that with their dreadful defense makes them an easy target for Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder.

Nine out of 10 Spurs games this season have featured at least 227 points, so you can pretty much bank on a high-scoring contest tonight.
