It’s about as worst-case scenario as you can get for the Indiana Pacers to start the season as the defending Eastern Conference Champions. At 1-8, the Pacers will visit the Golden State Warriors on the second night of a back-to-back.

Even with potential injury concerns for the Dubs, G-State is still a hefty 12.5-point home favorite.

My Pacers vs. Warriors predictions and NBA picks expect Indy to put up a fight on November 9.

Pacers vs Warriors prediction

Pacers vs Warriors best bet: Pacers +12.5 (-105)

It was always going to be tough sledding for the Indiana Pacers out of the gate, as Tyrese Haliburton would be gone for the year recovering from an Achilles injury, but Indiana just hasn’t been able to dig in and win games.

It's been in a lot of them, just not last night, where the Nuggets whipped them 117-100, sending Indy to its third loss in a row. Indiana was down guard Ben Mathurin (toe), and his status is unknown for the Warriors’ game.

Of the eight losses, five have been by single digits, including two by one possession. The Pacers will be catching the Golden State Warriors amid a slump with losses in four of their last five games.

They, too, were demolished in Denver, 129-104, for their worst loss of the season.

The Dubs have been playing without Steph Curry, who has missed the last two games with an illness, and he’ll be a game-time decision on Sunday. Golden State may also be without Al Horford (foot).

Regardless of who is in the lineup, Rick Carlisle can pull maximum effort out of his bunch, and there should be no exception against the Warriors.

This one is a big wait-and-see wager. If Curry can go, I’d be more inclined to take the Warriors to send the Pacers spilling for loss nine on the year.

Still, the books are giving the Dubs a ton of credit, even though they have just one of their five wins on the year by 13 points or more.

The Pacers are 2-0-0 against the spread this year playing on the second night of a back-to-back. I don’t think they win, but they'll stay in range.

Pacers vs Warriors same-game parlay

Jimmy Butler should be the one to take the scoring responsibilities if Curry can’t go or if Steph plays and is ineffective.

He’s been bothered by a sore back, and it’s affected his play as Butler has scored a total of 18 points over the last two games. This, after scoring 20+ points six of the previous seven games.

Andrew Nembhard got back in the lineup after missing seven games with a strained shoulder and looked good in his return, scoring 22 points and dishing out six assists.

The scoring could come and go, but Nembhard should play a bigger role in getting his teammates into good scoring positions.

Pacers vs Warriors SGP

  • Pacers +12.5
  • Jimmy Butler Over 20.5 points
  • Andrew Nembhard Over 4.5 assists

Our "from downtown" SGP: Sunday lay

A Draymond Green scoring spike has you set up with a good next-game prop. Green finished with 17 points in the loss to the Nuggets, courtesy of splashing five 3-pointers. It’s just the third time in nine games this year he’s cracked double digits.

Because Rick Carlisle has Pascal Siakam in so many actions at the top of the key defending either the screener or ball handler in a pick-and-roll, he’s not always in a prime rebounding position. That’s why he’s gone Under 6.5 rebounds in five straight.

Pacers vs Warriors SGP

  • Pacers +12.5
  • Jimmy Butler Over 20.5 points
  • Andrew Nembhard Over 4.5 assists
  • Draymond Green Under 9.5 points
  • Pascal Siakam Under 6.5 rebounds

Pacers vs Warriors odds

  • Spread: Pacers +12.5 (-105) | Warriors -12.5 (-115)
  • Moneyline: Pacers +475 | Warriors -650
  • Over/Under: Over 228.5 | Under 228.5
