A pair of new-look teams in the Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards open up the NBA season in the nation’s capital Wednesday night. My Bucks vs. Wizards prediction backs the game to go Over the 238.5-point projected total.
Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET at Capital One Arena, with Washington listed as a 4.5-point home favorite.

TOP PICK
Bucks vs Wizards prediction: Over 238.5
Under head coach Brian Keefe, the Washington Wizards have traditionally played at one of the fastest paces in the NBA. Nothing is expected to change on that front in 2026-27, and this year’s Washington squad is loaded with talent that can maximize those extra possessions.
Trae Young made a brief Wizards cameo following his trade from the Hawks last season before being shut down, and he’s now healthy and has had a full offseason to acclimate. Anthony Davis was another trade-deadline add will finally be making his team debut Wednesday.
The Milwaukee Bucks boast a nice infusion of new talent in their own right. Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kel’el Ware all came over in the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade and are highly proven contributors.
Both Milwaukee and Washington ranked in the bottom 10 of the NBA in opponent points per game last season. The Over was also 47-35 in the Wizards’ games, and although it was only 39-43 in the Bucks’ contests, Milwaukee naturally lost a significant defensive presence with Giannis’ departure.
Two of the four games between these teams last season also finished with 253 and 255 combined points.

Bucks vs Wizards combo
This combo opens with my main prediction of the multitude of explosive new pieces on both teams combining with some talented holdovers to produce plenty of offense and send this game past the total.
The other two components dovetail with those elevated scoring expectations.
With the move to Milwaukee, Herro has a chance to consistently spearhead an offensive attack, something he proved capable of for stretches in Miami with the help of a typically prolific three-point shot.
Meanwhile, AD is one of the most gifted offensive bigs in the league when healthy, and he produced the top scoring numbers of his career in a similarly fast-paced offense during his glory days in New Orleans.
Bucks vs Wizards combo
- Over 238.5
- Tyler Herro Over 2.5 Made 3-pointers
- Anthony Davis Over 19.5 points
Bucks vs Wizards player props
Bucks player prop: Tyler Herro 2+ Made 3-Pointers
Herro is an outstanding 3-point shooter who’s shot 37.5% or better from distance in five consecutive seasons. He recorded at least a pair of treys in 23 of 33 games in Miami last season, and in Milwaukee, he should be in for even more usage as perhaps the most consistent night-to-night source of offense.
The Wizards’ pace will also facilitate a few extra opportunities for Herro, who’s averaged 3.0 made threes and shot 43.3% from behind the arc against Washington in his career.
I’d play Herro’s 2+ made 3-pointers prop up to 85%.
Wizards player prop: Anthony Davis 20+ Points
Meanwhile, AD should be raring to go for his first regular-season game since Jan. 8. Davis looked impressive during the preseason and should be primed for some extra usage with Dybantsa unavailable.
With the likes of Young, George and Sarr to track, the Bucks’ defensive efforts won’t be overly concentrated on Davis, who’ll also enjoy a slight height advantage on Kyle Kuzma and a significant one if he’s ever matched up with Jaquez.
The 20-point mark is naturally one Davis has made a habit of hitting during his storied career – including in 12 of 20 games last season in Dallas – and his chances of getting there in a game where his team has an implied team total of 122 points are strong.
I’d be willing to trade Davis’ 20+ points prop up to 65%.
