A clash between American League division leaders takes place at Daikin Park on Monday, Aug. 31, with the Houston Astros a short home favorite over the visiting Chicago White Sox.

The first pitch is set for 8:10 p.m. ET, and my top White Sox vs. Astros predictions and MLB picks call for a high-scoring game tonight.

Who will win White Sox vs Astros today: White Sox moneyline (45.5%)

For help understanding probabilities, see our odds calculator.

A career-high 128 innings are beginning to catch up to Houston Astros righty Peter Lambert, and he’s posted a 4.49 xERA and 4.90 xFIP across 19 1/3 innings over his past four starts.

Control has been an issue, too, with Lambert issuing 10 free passes during the skid.

So, with Houston also ranking last in xwOBA and striking out at the sixth-highest clip over the past two weeks, I see value on the Chicago White Sox as an underdog to 48.8%.

The Pale Hose enter ranked eighth in xwOBA with a league-high walk rate during the same stretch, after all.

Plus, Chicago lefty Anthony Kay has allowed two runs or fewer in seven of his past 10 starts.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Houston Astros rank 26th in xwOBA and 22nd in on-base percentage across the past 30 days.

White Sox vs Astros Over/Under pick: Over 8.5 (52.4%)

Despite the highlighted struggles of the Houston offense, I still expect them to do enough damage on the bases to help push this total Over the number.

Kay's 3.63 ERA during the highlighted 10-start stretch is well below his underlying 4.16 xERA and 4.26 xFIP, and he’s also thrown a career-high 132 innings.

Additionally, the Astros have statistical correction coming to their 27th-ranked BABIP considering they rank 11th in hard-hit rate over the past 30 days.

I wouldn't play the Over if it got much pricier than 53%.

White Sox vs Astros home run prediction: Christian Walker (16.9%)

Houston slugger Christian Walker has teed off on lefties to the tune of a .220 ISO, and Kay has allowed an eye-popping .195 ISO to right-handed hitters, while 16 of the 18 home runs he’s given up have been to righties.
