We’ve got a busy betting slate in baseball today, including another matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Kansas City Royals.

Ernie Clement has been a force at the plate against left-handed pitching all season long, and I expect that trend to continue tonight with Noah Cameron starting for the Royals. Find out why with my free MLB picks below.

Blue Jays predictions for August 2

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Can't stop Clement

Ernie Clement Over 1 total bases (-133 at BetVictor)

The Toronto Blue Jays will need to find a way to generate more offense tonight against the Kansas City Royals with Max Scherzer on the mound, who will likely need some run support if this game is going to break the Jays’ way.

One player I expect to contribute some offence for Toronto tonight is Ernie Clement. He's crushing left-handed pitching this season, sporting a .350 batting average and a .960 OPS in 120 at-bats against southpaws.

The Jays’ utility infielder has his total bases set at 1.0 tonight and is offering a fairly good price considering the Royals are starting a left-handed pitcher tonight in Noah Cameron.

Additionally, Clement has gone Over this number twice in his last three games and will aim to make it three in four nights with another multi-bag game this evening.

His batted ball profile matches up well against Cameron, too, who doesn't throw heat and gives up weak contact with a rather pedestrian whiff rate. The strength of Clement's batting skillset is his ability to square up the baseball and make contact, ranking in the 99th percentile in that metric, with just a 13.5% whiff rate.

Considering he’s been a line-drive machine, ranking 3.2% above league average in that rate, when Clement makes contact against Cameron, it should get into the outfield and drop.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Ernie Clement Over 1.5 total bases

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases

Tyler Heineman

I’ll continue to roll with the hot bat of Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who's also crushing lefties this season with a .340 average against them. Give me Vladdy to stay hot and go Over 1.5 bases again for the ninth time in his last 12 games.

For the final leg, I’ll continue to back the Blue Jays’ lefty-mashing offence and take another right-handed bat to have success against a LHP. Give me Over 0.5 hits for Tyler Heineman, who has a 210 wRC+ against lefties with a .441 average this season.
