The Detroit Lions are one of the largest betting favorites on the Week 4 docket, with the Cleveland Browns visiting Ford Field on Sunday, September 28.

Detroit is coming off a statement road win over the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football, and my early Browns vs. Lions predictions and NFL picks expect the good times to continue in Motor City.

Browns vs Lions predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Browns vs Lions spread pick: Lions -8.5

-110 at FanDuel

Hat tip to the Cleveland Browns for their home upset over the Green Bay Packers in Week 3.

Standing ovation to the Detroit Lions for running over the Baltimore Ravens on the road on Monday Night Football.

The Cleveland pass rush made an impact against the Pack on Sunday, but that won’t translate to Week 4 with the Detroit offensive line ranking third in both PFF run block and pass block grade through three games.

Additionally, the Detroit offense has averaged exactly 37 points per home game dating back to last season.

Cleveland won’t be able to keep pace with veteran quarterback Joe Flacco ranking third last in adjusted EPA per play and throwing for just 5.0 yards per attempt.

I also value Lions head coach Dan Campbell consistently having his team prepared and motivated. There's no such thing as a letdown spot or short week in Motor City.

Early Browns vs Lions total pick: Under 45.5

-118 at FanDuel

The Cleveland offensive shortcomings extend beyond the highlighted Flacco woes, with the Browns averaging the third-lowest EPA per play while ranking 30th in offensive DVOA and last in PFF offense grade.

Detroit also upped the defensive ante in Week 3 with seven sacks, and ranks above average in both defensive DVOA and PFF defense grade despite facing the second-hardest PFF schedule.

Similarly, the Browns' stop unit has been excellent and tops PFF defense grade despite the hardest schedule through three weeks.

I’m ultimately expecting the Lions to hold the Browns in check while Cleveland makes just enough stops to keep this total Under the number on Sunday afternoon.
