Is sports betting legal in Oklahoma?

No, Oklahoma sports betting is not legal in Sept. 2026. However, this is not due to a lack of effort, as local lawmakers — such as State Senator Casey Murdock and Representative Ken Luttrell — have each introduced several sports betting legislation bills since the U.S. Supreme Court overruled the federal ban in 2018. 

Even Governor Kevin Stitt has recently made an effort to bring legalized betting to the Sooner State. Unfortunately, Gov. Stitt's vision does not align with the state's tribal nations, which currently operate over 100 retail casinos in 2026. Stitt wants to change the state's sports betting legislation to create an open market, allowing major companies like FanDuel and DraftKings to receive operating licenses from the state, as well as local sports franchises. This fundamental disagreement has led to numerous stalled bills — including Senate Bill 585, which was recently removed from legislative discussions mere hours before it was set to be discussed.
