After dropping three in a row to begin the campaign, the New York Knicks enter Friday's matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers with some positive momentum, winning their last two with a net rating of 10.0 compared to -7.2 during their initial losing skid.
What cost them on Oct. 20 in their 106-100 loss was poor efficiency. New York converted just 37% of its shot attempts, including 33% from behind the arc. Those percentages have risen to 44% and 40.5%, respectively, over the last two games, but the former still isn't up to par.
Philadelphia sits atop the standings at 4-1, but it's a touch misleading. It needed double-digit comebacks to knock off both the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers. Now, Jaylen Brown is listed as questionable with knee soreness.

At 47%, I'll gladly take the 76ers on the moneyline, as I make Philadelphia a 56% favorite. My biggest concern for New York is how it hides Jalen Brunson defensively against a healthy Philadelphia starting five. With all five starters capable of creating their own offense, the 76ers can relentlessly target Brunson, forcing him to expend energy defensively and potentially wearing him down.

Make it three games in a row that starting center Wendell Carter Jr. has pulled down nine or more rebounds for his squad.
He grabbed a season-high 10 in 26 minutes on Wednesday, with Toronto's five men Jakob Poeltl and Collin Murray-Boyles dealing with foul trouble.
Carter Jr. had 19 rebounding chances versus the Raptors, as well, which was eight more than any of his teammates. Nine boards on Friday is a conservative estimate considering his effective play on the glass.
Scottie Barnes o20.5 Points Scored (-123)
Aside from an anomalous scoreless outing against Minnesota, two-time All-Star Scottie Barnes has been highly efficient for Toronto, averaging 26.3 points on 50% shooting in their three victories. He quickly rebounded from that loss to drop 28 points on Orlando, scoring nearly half of those points directly against Franz Wagner and Wendell Carter Jr. With Paolo Banchero out and the Magic offering minimal resistance inside, expect Barnes to dominate once again in Friday's rematch. Play up to 62%.

Play up to 63%. With Haliburton and McConnell sidelined, Siakam should carry more playmaking responsibility alongside Nembhard. He's recorded at least four assists in two of his last three games, and Miami's defense has struggled to contain opposing forwards. I'll back another four-assist performance from the veteran.

Play up to 60%. Indiana's frontcourt is missing Zubac, creating a favorable rebounding matchup for Giannis. He's grabbed 32 boards across his last two outings, and the Pacers rank 24th in opponent rebounds allowed. With Indiana lacking size inside, Antetokounmpo should have plenty of opportunities to reach double figures again.

The Mavs offense runs through Flagg, who is averaging 17.3 field goal attempts per game - nearly four more than anyone else on Dallas.
Flagg has attempted 23 field goals in each of his last two outings, so I expect him to take matters into his own hands again tonight.

Playable up to 53%.
Amen Thompson is a formidable scorer in the paint, averaging 12.4 ppg in the interior this season.
Thompson, who's scored 20+ points in two of his last four games, will give fits to a Mavs defense that struggles to defend down low.

Luka Doncic is questionable, but I view Wednesday's absence as a potential load-management situation rather than a multi-game injury concern. Walker Kessler is the key to this projection, as his size and lob threat create a major mismatch against a Warriors lineup that could have 6-foot-7 Draymond Green defending at center.

Betting the moneyline in the NBA means you're picking the winner of the game, no strings attached. If the team you bet on emerges victorious, then so do you.

In this example, the Los Angeles Lakers are the favorites to win the game as their moneyline odds have a minus sign (-) in front of the number. The favorites will have the minus sign present, and the underdogs will have a plus sign (+).
Betting $100 on the Lakers would pay you $180, your original $100 bet, plus $80 in winnings. If you bet $100 on the Warriors, since oddsmakers believe they're less likely to win this game, the payout would be $250, with a profit of $150.
Betting the spread in the NBA provides more wiggle room to bettors for games that may appear one-sided on paper. Rather than simply picking the winner like you would with the moneyline, you can instead pick the point differential to give underdogs more of a fighting chance with your wagers.

In this example, the Lakers are favored to not only win the game against the Warriors, but to do so by at least 4.5 points. As a gentle reminder, the minus sign (-) determines the favorite for the game in question.
Should the Lakers win by five points, that would mean Los Angeles "covered the spread," resulting in a win for those who bet in their favor. However, if the Lakers won by four points, that would mean the Warriors "covered the spread" instead.
The -110 betting line enclosed in parentheses is fairly common for spread bets. That is the number bettors would follow to determine potential gains and losses, just like the moneyline. Odds are usually equal on both sides of the line, but can range from -105 to -120 (or more) in either direction.
An Over/Under bet in the NBA has nothing to do with which team wins the game. Instead, all that matters is the total combined score for that game and whether it exceeds a preset number established by oddsmakers.

In this example, oddsmakers have set the total score for the Lakers and Warriors at 240.5 points.
As a bettor, you can select the Over if you believe the two teams will combine to score more than 240.5 points, 241 or more, or bet the Under if they'll score fewer than 240.5 points, 240 or fewer.
If the set number was a whole number like 240 points, for example, and the two teams combined to score exactly that amount, then the result would be a push and you'd get your money back on the wager.
