Opening NFL Week 9 Odds and Betting Lines: Chiefs road faves in Buffalo

One of the biggest games of the year highlights the NFL Week 9 odds, with the Chiefs set as road favorites in Orchard Park facing the Bills. Check out the opening spread and total for that rivalry as well as the other Week 9 matchups.

We're nearly across the halfway mark of the 2025 NFL regular season as Week 9 kicks off on Thursday.

Lamar Jackson could finally return to the Baltimore Ravens for Thursday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins. Baltimore is a 7.5-point favorite.

The marquee matchup of the week, however, comes on Sunday afternoon when Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs visit Orchard Park to take on the Buffalo Bills.

Ravens vs Dolphins odds (Thursday, 8:15 p.m. ET, Prime)

Opening line

Baltimore aims to have QB Lamar Jackson back under center for Thursday Night Football. Bookies installed the Ravens as 7.5-point road favorites in Miami. The total for this prime-time game opened at 48.5 points and ticked up to as high as 50.5 at some shops.

Panthers vs Packers odds (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET, FOX)

Opening line

The look-ahead line had Green Bay as an 11.5-point home favorite before beating the Steelers on their own turf on Sunday night. That win has prompted an official opener of Packers -12.5 with Carolina possibly without QB1 Bryce Young for the second straight week. The Over/Under opened at 43.5 points.

Vikings vs Lions odds (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET, FOX)

Opening line

The Lions are coming off a bye week and opened as 9.5-point home chalk hosting the Vikings, who have had a mini bye since losing in L.A. last Thursday. The status of Minnesota’s QB position is up in the air, with J.J. McCarthy trending toward playing in Week 9. This total opened at 47.5 points and is up to 48.5 at some books.

Colts vs Steelers odds (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET, CBS)

Opening line

Pittsburgh got bullied on its own field Sunday night and now hosts the Colts in Week 9. Indianapolis was a 2.5-point road fave on the look-ahead line but after SNF’s result, the official opener came in at a field goal. Vig on Colts -3 is climbing so we could see a move to -3.5 later. This total opened at 48.5 and is up to 49.5 points.

Chargers vs Titans odds (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET, CBS)

Opening line

The Bolts are off a mini bye following a big win last Thursday and opened as 8.5-point road favorites in Tennessee in Week 9. Action on L.A. pushed that spread to as high as -10.5 on Monday morning. The Titans have injuries mounting on defense and have been blown away 89-37 over their last three games. The Over/Under opened at 42.5 points.

Falcons vs Patriots odds (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET, CBS)

Opening line

The Patriots are the hottest team in the NFL and opened as 4.5-point home chalk hosting the Falcons in Week 9. With Atlanta coming off an embarrassing home loss to Miami, that spread spun up to -5.5. The total for this non-conference clash hit the board at 45.5 O/U.

Broncos vs Texans odds (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET, CBS)

Opening line

The Texans turned in a solid two-way win over San Francisco on Sunday and stay home to host the Broncos in Week 9. Oddsmakers opened Houston as a 1.5-point home underdog while the Over/Under hit the board at 38.5 points and jumped to 39.5 points.

49ers vs Giants odds (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET, CBS)

Opening line

The 49ers travel to New Jersey as 2.5-point opening favorites. But with the Giants defense leaking points and the offense losing rookie RB Cam Skattebo to a season-ending ankle injury, sportsbooks have seen this spread move to a field goal. San Francisco is hoping to have QB1 Brock Purdy back under center for Week 9. That has the total opening at 45.5 and moving to 46.5 with heavy juice on the Over indicating a potential move to the key number of 47 points.

Bears vs Bengals odds (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET, CBS)

Opening line

The Bears put in a poor performance against the Lamar-less Ravens in Week 8 and now open as 2.5-point road favorites at Cincinnati in Week 9. The Bengals could be missing top LB Trey Hendrickson, after he left Sunday’s collapse to the Jets. This Over/Under opened at 49.5 and has climbed to 51.5 with initial action on the Over.

Opening line

The Jaguars and Raiders are well rested after both teams enjoyed a bye in Week 8. Books opened Jacksonville as a field goal favorite on the road and the juice on -3 is rising, pointing to a move to -3.5 later in the week. The total for this game opened at 43.5 O/U. Las Vegas is aiming to have standout TE Brock Bowers and WR Jakobi Meyers back on offense while star DL Maxx Crosby is also trending toward a return.

Opening line

The Rams are fresh off a bye and get to host the Saints in Week 9, with NOLA mired in a QB quandary. Los Angeles opened as a 13.5-point home favorite and could possibly have WR1 Puka Nacua back in action for this Sunday. The Over/Under opened at 44.5 points.

Opening line

Monday’s win for the Chiefs didn’t change things for this spread, with Kansas City opening as a 1.5-point road favorite ay Buffalo in Week 9. The Bills are expected to miss DL Ed Oliver for this key AFC battle. The total opened at 51.5 and has climbed to 52.5 at some sportsbooks on Tuesday morning.

Opening line

The look-ahead line listed Seattle as a field goal favorite in D.C. for Sunday Night Football but after the Commanders’ loss on MNF and with Terry McClaurin and Jayden Daniels’ unknown status, this spread officially opened at Seahawks -3.5. The total is at 45.5 O/U.

Cardinals vs Cowboys odds (Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN)

Opening line

The Cowboys got blown away by the Broncos this weekend and return home to host the Cardinals, who are coming off a bye week and could have QB1 Kyler Murray back under center for Week 9. Dallas opened as a 2.5-point home chalk and jumped to -3 on Sunday night. This total hit the board at 51.5 and climbed to 53.5 with play on the Over out of the gates.
