The weather report for Week 10 odds runs a little hot and cold. Literally.
Some northern venues will see temperatures near freezing while NFL bettors won’t be the only ones sweating in some southern spots. Mix in a little wind and rain and there’s plenty to keep track of weather wise when making your NFL picks.
I look into the extended forecasts and how the elements could impact the NFL odds this week.
Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears weather
It’s Chicago, so the winds could come out of nowhere for the Thursday Night Football showcase.
The current call from meteorologists is gusts up to 22 mph blowing West from end to end at Solider Field, which could push around any longer field goal attempts. Those breezes will also chill the Chitown crowds, with “feels like” temperatures hovering around freezing at 34 degrees.
Everyone is watching for an update on the day-to-day status of Bears QB Justin Fields, who practiced last week after missing the past three games with a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand.
If he sits on the short week — giving him 10 full days to rest for Week 11 — then backup Tyson Bagent would be under center and the Chicago Bears' pass game would stay conservative. Fields’ return would give the Bears more downfield threat, but he will be passing into those winds in at least one half.
The Carolina Panthers can't get their offense going, even with Thomas Brown taking over the playcalling. The Panthers are converting on 40% of their third down tries and kicker Eddy Pineiro is a steady leg, having made 14 of 16 field goal attempts. His two misses have come from 40+ yards.
The longest field goal prop for Thursday night is 47.5 yards Over/Under.
Tennessee Titans at Tampa Bay Buccaneers weather
The Tennessee Titans are coming off a mini bye after losing to Pittsburgh last Thursday and will need plenty of battery life against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Sunshine State soup this Sunday.
With the humidity hovering around 60%, the “feels like” temperatures spike to the mid-90s. That could give Tampa Bay an edge in terms of conditioning in this hot and sweaty environment. Oddsmakers currently have the Buccaneers as 1.5-point home chalk.
Tampa Bay does play a quicker tempo on offense, ranked 14th in seconds per play, and utilizes more no-huddle than most teams. That means the Bucs could take advantage of the heat and humidity by forcing the Tennessee defense to speed up and limit its substitutions.
Tennessee, on the other hand, runs one of the more methodical paces in the NFL. The Titans sit 31st in seconds per play (second slowest) and sit 29th in plays per game.
This spread could swing based on Tennessee’s decision at quarterback. Veteran Ryan Tannehill appears ready to go after missing the past two games due to an ankle sprain. However, rookie passer Will Levis has provided more pop for the Titans’ passing game in relief of Tannehill.

San Francisco 49ers at Jacksonville Jaguars weather
This is one of the most interesting matchups on the NFL Week 10 odds board, with the Jacksonville Jaguars looking to stamp their legitimacy with a win over the San Francisco 49ers.
The extended forecast calls for the potential of disruptive weather, with wind gusts up to 25 mph blowing NNE from corner to corner at TIAA Bank Field and possible thunderstorms in the area on Sunday afternoon. Not all weather models concur with this forecast, so keep an eye on Duval County over the week.
Should there be wind and rain, it would benefit the Niners’ quick-hitting attack. San Francisco has the second-highest rush rate in the NFL and should downfield passing be a problem, the 49ers can pick up plenty of yards after the catch on shorter throws (second in YAC).
The Jaguars' defense has given up the seventh most YAC and has missed the 11th most tackles entering Week 10, despite playing only eight games. Jacksonville is currently a 3-point home underdog.
Washington Commanders at Seattle Seahawks weather
Stop me if you've heard this before: it’s going to rain in Seattle.
The forecast for Sunday’s showdown in Lumen Field calls for a higher chance of rain in the first half but some predictions could see light rains throughout this 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Winds aren’t expected to be significant and game-time temperatures will be in the high 40s.
This Over/Under total opened as low as 44 points and has climbed to 45.5 at some sportsbooks.
If the weather has any say on this game, rains may make the FieldTurf surface in Seattle a little slick, but this field was built for maximum drainage first and foremost. Both the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders run the beef of their handoffs inside off-guard gaps, so slippery footing won’t have the same risk if they ran more outside attempts.
Denver Broncos at Buffalo Bills weather
The Week 10 schedule ends in Orchard Park where the Buffalo Bills host the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football.
Extended forecasts vary, with some calling for wind gusts up to 17 mph blowing end to end at Highmark Stadium. What they do agree on are the chilly temperatures, with a “feels like” range hovering above freezing.
That colder climate shouldn’t impact either team that much, as Denver has already tasted the bitter cold in Week 8’s homestand with the Chiefs in which temps dropped to 26 degrees.
The Broncos are coming off a bye while the Bills are reeling off a Sunday night loss at Cincinnati. Buffalo is currently laying -7.5 on Monday night.
