The Denver Broncos look to cap a perfect preseason slate when they visit the New Orleans Saints at the Caesars Superdome on Saturday afternoon.

New Orleans is still trying to figure out who its starting quarterback will be this season, and both Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough will be tested by a Denver defense that hasn’t allowed an opponent to reach double-digit points this preseason.

Read on for my Broncos vs. Saints predictions and NFL picks for Saturday, August 23.

Broncos vs Saints prediction

Broncos vs Saints Best bet: Denver -3.5 (-110)

The New Orleans Saints are the only remaining NFL team that has not announced their regular-season starting quarterback. That’s because Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough have done little to separate themselves from one another.

That isn’t entirely their fault, however. The offensive line has had a rough preseason, with Rattler and Shough often having little time to scan the field.

And while Rattler led a comeback in the second half against the Jaguars, he did so against the backups for a defense that was quite poor last season.

Neither quarterback will have that luxury against the Denver Broncos.

Denver’s defense will be one of the best in the NFL this season, and opponents have managed a total of 16 points in the preseason thus far.

Sean Payton has confirmed his starters on both sides of the ball will see between eight and 10 snaps, and that should get them out to a fast start. Once the backups take over, Jarrett Stidham has looked quite impressive, and Sam Ehlinger has posted efficient numbers as well.

Stidham has thrown four touchdown passes in the preseason without any interceptions, and the Denver offense has dominated two opponents already, having posted 27+ points in both games.

Rattler and Shough will be looked at to throw the ball plenty, and Denver’s pass rush will make life difficult. Take the Broncos to cover the spread and continue their preseason dominance.
