Anthony Richardson Next Team Odds: Why the Falcons Could Be a Perfect Fit

Anthony Richardson risks becoming the next big QB bust after three injury-shortened seasons in Indianapolis. Following his trade request, odds are now out on where the former No. 4 overall pick could land next.

Anthony Richardson’s time with the Indianapolis Colts is over. The 2023 No. 4 overall pick has requested a trade after three injury-interrupted seasons in Indy, and the team is A-OK with it.

That has bookmakers baking up a fresh batch of NFL “next team” odds. But do teams actually have an appetite for the former Florida star?

He was drafted by the Colts and head coach Shane Steichen, who was looking to replicate the success he had with Jalen Hurts as the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles.

However, Richardson has been a “Dollar Store” version of Hurts at best: Not as good and definitely not as durable.

He’s played just 17 games over three NFL seasons, posting a 50.6% completion rate, 11 touchdowns to 13 interceptions, and a 67.8 passer rating. He missed most of the 2025 season after losing the starting job to Daniel Jones and nearly losing an eye in a freak resistance band accident.

Richardson is reportedly still recovering from that orbital fracture, which has impaired vision in his right eye. That eye issue and a near $11 million ask doesn’t leave many trade suitors beating down the door of Indianapolis GM Chris Ballard.

That said, these are the favorites in the Anthony Richardson next team odds.

Anthony Richardson next team favorites

Vikings Minnesota Vikings (+250)

If any team can turn a “bust” into a “boom,” it’s the Minnesota Vikings.

Let’s just hope they learned from the Sam Darnold experiment and don’t throw the QB out with the bathwater. Minnesota is struggling at the quarterback position, with J.J. McCarthy’s first two years following a path similar to Richardson’s.

When rumors of a Kirk Cousins reunion start swirling, you know things are bleak.

FalconsAtlanta Falcons (+400)

Michael Penix Jr.’s ACL is as fragile as burnt bacon after his third career tear in Week 11. With Cousins getting the heave-ho in March, the Atlanta Falcons’ QB options are limited.

A healthy Richardson would be a real threat — at least on the ground — paired with Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier in Kevin Stefanski’s new scheme.

Rams Los Angeles Rams (+500)

Richardson would serve as the backup for the Los Angeles Rams behind Matthew Stafford, who's coming off an MVP campaign. He’s a more dynamic option at QB2 than Jimmy Garoppolo, and head coach Sean McVay could cook up some fun gadget plays with a more mobile quarterback.

That said, Richardson is just as fragile as Stafford’s breadstick back.

DolphinsMiami Dolphins (+600)

The Miami Dolphins are moving on from Tua Tagovailoa, but Richardson may not be the best fit for their offense.

Bobby Slowik was promoted to coordinator after Mike McDaniel’s firing, yet both run Shanahan-style schemes that rely on accurate passing — Richardson’s kryptonite.

On top of that, he’d face a bottom-tier Dolphins offensive line, putting him at risk for another stint on IR.

Anthony Richardson next team prediction

Stefanski’s run-heavy schemes play to the Falcons’ loaded rushing talent, and adding Richardson’s mobility and strong arm to that play-action playbook makes him a solid fit for a franchise scrambling to fill its QB1 role without a first-round pick.

Pick: Atlanta Falcons (+400)
