The Florida vs. Missouri total is ridiculously inflated, creating one of Week 5’s best opportunities as our college football expert is locking in the Under before the sharp money moves the number.

Fresh off an emotional win, No. 8 Florida travels to face No. 25 Missouri today as a 5.5-point road favorite.

While my Florida vs. Missouri prediction backs the Gators to cover the full-game spread, targeting Missouri's first-half moneyline provides a sharp way to play a potential early hangover without fading the Gators over 60 minutes.

Head over to our latest college football picks for more Week 5 betting analysis ahead of today's 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ABC.

 TOP PICK

Who will win Florida vs Missouri today? Pick: Florida -5.5

The Florida Gators just beat top-five Ole Miss 52-28, so a letdown argument is obvious with a road trip to face the Missouri Tigers ahead.

But I'm not letting that erase the matchup. I'll play the Gators to -6.

Florida ranks 14th in net adjusted EPA per play, while Missouri sits 72nd overall and 107th offensively. The Tigers’ defense is the reason this is not a runaway. It ranks 31st overall and third in pass success rate allowed. Florida can attack the softer part of the matchup on the ground, where its rushing offense ranks fifth in EPA per rush against Missouri’s 50th-ranked rush defense.

There's not a ton here to get you believing in head coach Eli Drinkwitz either. Since 2024, Missouri is 1-9 versus ranked teams, with its only win coming against No. 24 Boston College in 2024.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Florida boasts the top offense in the country in adjusted EPA per play at +0.32.

Florida vs Missouri Over/Under pick: Under 57.5

I'm playing the Under down to 57%.

If there's any hangover from Florida, this is one of the best ways to capitalize on it. A few late stat-padding touchdowns from the Gators made this number overinflated.

The Tigers rank sixth nationally in defensive success rate and third in pass success rate allowed. Florida will score, and I expect the Gators to cover, but they may need to earn points with longer drives instead of relying on constant explosiveness.

On the other side, I anticipate the Gators' defense to make Missouri uncomfortable. That unit has allowed just 0.07 EPA per play on early downs. That should help keep Missouri behind schedule, especially given that its offensive success rate sits ranks in the triple digits nationally.

Florida vs Missouri combo

Missouri’s defensive efficiency should keep this from becoming an early track meet, but Florida comes with the stronger profile in the downs that decide close games.

The Gators convert
61.9% of third- and fourth-down opportunities, sitting sixth nationally, while Missouri’s offense converts 42.9%, ranking 74th. That gives Florida a better chance to sustain the possessions that matter most after halftime, even if Missouri’s field position and home environment produce an early lead.

A competitive first half followed by Florida’s superior talent and coaching taking over is the vision for this combo.

Florida vs Missouri combo

  • Florida -5.5
  • Missouri first-half moneyline
  • Under 57.5

Florida vs Missouri prop: Missouri first-half moneyline

In addition to the Under, this is another way to capture a Florida team coming off a potentially massive win. I'll take the Missouri first-half moneyline up to 46%. As previously mentioned, I don't have a ton of respect for Drinkwitz because he hasn't commanded it. However, there's an argument to be made here.

Missouri has a legitimate early-game matchup edge because its defense ranks sixth nationally in early-down EPA allowed at -0.21 per play. The Tigers also start drives at their own 38-yard line, the best mark in the country, while opponents begin at their own 21, ranking second. That combination can create short fields and make it difficult for Florida to build its usual rhythm immediately.
