Big East Tournament upstart, No. 11 seed Georgetown Hoyas, aims to continue its Cinderella run as it plays the No. 2 seed UConn Huskies in the semifinals on Friday at 8 pm ET on FS1.

Oddsmakers don’t give Ed Cooley’s squad much of a chance at another upset, establishing the Hoyas as a 14.5-point underdog against a UConn team that demolished Xavier in the quarterfinals.

The Huskies haven’t been able to cover the spread with consistency this season, so I’m riding with the underdog with my Georgetown vs. UConn predictions and college basketball picks on Friday, March 13.

UConn vs Georgetown best bet

UConn vs Georgetown best bet: Georgetown +15 (-105)

The Georgetown Hoyas tournament run may seem random, but keep in mind that the Hoyas have exceeded expectations outside of Capital One Arena all year, ranking fourth in Haslametrics’ Away From Home grade.

They covered both regular-season matchups with ease (average cover margin of 11 points) and have routinely played up to their level of competition, ranking 15th nationally in EvanMiya’s Opponent Adjust metric.

This line is inflated due to Dan Hurley’s storied past March successes, but this year’s UConn Huskies team has been one of the least-profitable teams against the spread (12-20 ATS) and isn’t up to par with past Husky squads.

UConn vs Georgetown same-game parlay

KJ Lewis, Georgetown’s leader in points (14.9 per game), usage rate (28.3), and BPR (+5.61), is out for the remainder of the season. That leaves a big void in production left to be filled, and guard Malik Mack has proved to be the solution in this tournament by averaging 14 points and 5 assists.

He played 37 minutes against Villanova and had the ball in his hands on nearly every possession. The volume will be there, and he’s also the Hoyas’ most efficient player on offense (+3.18 OBPR).

Our beyond the arc SGP: Mack Daddy!

Tarris Reed Jr. is a dominant force on the black, posting four consecutive double-doubles. The Hoyas can’t match him— he’s too physical for Julius Halaifonua and too crafty for Vincent Iwuchukwu.
