The Atlanta Hawks are a slim 3.5-point favorite tonight against the winless Miami Heat, with tip-off at State Farm Arena at 7 p.m. ET.

Atlanta's offense has been efficient, and my Heat vs Hawks prediction expects it to exploit Miami's struggling defense.

 TOP PICK
Heat vs Hawks prediction: Hawks -3.5 (49%)

Play up to 58%.

Something has gotta give for this Miami Heat team, but tonight won't be the night they finally win.

The Atlanta Hawks may have lost back-to-back games, but both defeats came against the undefeated Houston Rockets, and Atlanta has multiple avenues to exploit.

The Hawks average 121 points per game and are about 12 points better than Miami per 100 possessions on offense. They also boast a +9.0 net rating, compared to the Heat's -12.4.

Atlanta leads the Association in assists and ranks 11th defensively, ahead of a matchup against the league's 27th-ranked offense.

Miami has looked better lately, but this number is small enough for the Hawks to bounce back at home. Atlanta's well-rounded attack will capitalize.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Hawks average 13.3 offensive rebounds and 11.2 steals per game, giving them multiple ways to create extra possessions.

Heat vs Hawks combo

I'm combining a Hawks victory with two shooting props.

CJ McCollum has been solid from deep, hitting 44% of his 3-pointers. The veteran is averaging 2.8 makes on 6.3 attempts per night, and the Heat are allowing opponents to shoot 39% from long range.

McCollum has also cashed the Over in two of four games this season, and opposing point guards are averaging 3.91 makes per contest against Miami.

Davion Mitchell's total sits at just 1.5 here, which feels very attainable to hit the Over. He's not a high-volume shooter, but the guard is shooting 45% from downtown, averaging 2.3 makes on 5.0 attempts.

Even though Atlanta's perimeter defense is solid, Mitchell has easily cashed the Over in three of four appearances.

Heat vs Hawks combo

  • Hawks moneyline
  • CJ McCollum Over 2.5 threes
  • Davion Mitchell Over 1.5 threes

Heat vs Hawks player props

Heat player prop: Giannis Antetokounmpo Over 29.5 points (57%)

Play up to 62%.

Despite the Heat's 0-4 record, Giannis Antetokounmpo has carried the team. The big man is averaging 28.5 ppg on 55.7% shooting. Giannis has scored 30+ points in two of his four outings, and he still posted 29 points in the slim loss to the Mavs earlier this week.

Antetokounmpo's usage rate sits at 35.6%. That's over 15 percentage points higher than Mitchell, Miami's second-highest usage rate among starters. The Greek Freak is shouldering a huge piece of the offensive load, and he's averaging almost 20 field goals per game.

With high shot volume and a substantial usage rate, Giannis is worth a look for 30+ tonight, even against a stout Atlanta defense.

Hawks player prop: Jalen Johnson Over 9.5 rebounds (58%)

Play up to 63%.

Jalen Johnson has cleared this line only once in four games, but he's come awfully close twice, grabbing nine rebounds in both contests against Houston.

The Hawks forward is averaging 9.8 boards per game, including 14 in the season opener against Orlando. Johnson also averaged 10.3 rebounds last season, so he can certainly put up double-digit numbers.

Miami is also struggling on the glass, ranking 23rd with 58.8 rebounds allowed per game, and 9.88 allowed to power forwards. This contest gives Johnson a chance to dominate the boards.
