The Indiana Hoosiers are feeling very “bubbly” as they head to Chicago for their Big Ten tournament opener tonight versus the Northwestern Wildcats.

The Hoosiers are on the cusp of qualifying for the NCAA Tournament and need at least a win or two in the conference postseason to bolster their stock with the selection committee.

In tough times, head coach Darian DeVries is going to lean on one player he knows very well: his son. Tucker DeVries is wrapping up his college career for IU and playing his best basketball over the last month.

My Northwestern vs. Indiana predictions and college basketball picks like Tucker to top his scoring prop on Wednesday, March 11.

Northwestern vs Indiana prediction

Northwestern vs Indiana best bet

Northwestern vs Indiana best bet: Tucker DeVries Over 13.5 points (-105)

Tucker DeVries has been a jack of all trades for the Indiana Hoosiers, playing the wing but also banging down low with the Hoosiers’ rotation running short.

They meet a Northwestern Wildcats team also going small without 6-foot-11 forward Arrinten Page (illness). Even with Page in, Northwestern plays small. It gets beat up in the paint and roughed up on rebounds.

DeVries is a tough matchup. He’s able to bully smaller defenders and burn bigger ones from the perimeter.

He’s averaging 14.5 points over his last eight outings, and projections range from 14 to as high as 17 points tonight.

Northwestern vs Indiana same-game parlay

The Hoosiers need style points during the Big Ten tournament if they want to get off the bubble. Indiana is an efficient half-court offense that can score at the rim against a dreadful (and tired) NU defense.

DeVries shoots a lot of 3-pointers and can scrap for buckets around the rim. Without Page, the Wildcats get small, and the Hoosiers' senior can pick his spots.

If NU is going down, Nick Martinelli is going down swinging. The Big Ten legend is battling on the boards with nine or more rebounds in three of his last four games.

Northwestern vs Indiana SGP

  • Indiana team total Over 74.5
  • Tucker DeVries Over 13.5 points
  • Nick Martinelli Over 7.5 rebounds

Our beyond the arc SGP: Hoosier Daddy

The Wildcats are one of the worst rebounding teams in the country, and the coach's kid will draw smaller defenders who will struggle to box him out on the boards.

Northwestern vs Indiana SGP

  • Indiana -6.5
  • Tucker DeVries Over 13.5 points
  • Tucker DeVries Over 6.5 rebounds
  • Indiana team total Over 74.5

Northwestern vs Indiana odds
