UConn vs Michigan best bets

UConn Michigan -7

-110 at bet365

Arizona was widely viewed as the second-best team in the country, and Michigan destroying them, despite Yaxel Lendeborg logging just 14 minutes, showed how dominant the Wolverines are. That was Michigan's seventh double-digit win against a Top-15 KenPom team.

The Wolverines have been red-hot from deep, and even if they regress in that area, they still have the ball movement and interior attack to find cracks in UConn's defense.

UConn's guards struggle to knock down shots, and the Wolverines shut down Arizona's elite backcourt. The Huskies also won't score inside, with Michigan boasting the best rim defense in the country.

Aday Mara dropped 26 points against Arizona's elite defense, and he has scored 14+ points in eight of the last 11 games. Michigan will need the 7-foot-3 center on the floor as much as possible to battle Tarris Reed Jr., and he could carry more of the offensive load if Lendeborg is limited.

Meanwhile, guard Trey McKenney went 4-for-6 from deep against Arizona and has drained at least a pair of threes in eight of his last 12 games.

UConn's best perimeter defender, Silas Demary Jr., will likely guard Cadeau, giving McKenney a more favorable matchup against Braylon Mullens or Solo Ball, who is dealing with a foot sprain.

UConn vs Michigan props

UConn Elliot Cadeau Over 12.5 points

+100 at bet365

Elliot Cadeau is coming off his busiest offensive game of the season after firing up 17 total field goals in the win over Arizona in the Final Four.

Surprisingly, Cadeau failed to get to the foul line in that semifinal, but his attacking style pokes a soft spot in the UConn Huskies defense. The Huskies watched Illinois’ slashers Keaton Wagler and Andrej Stojakovic drive into the paint and score at the rim while also drawing whistles.

If Lendeborg’s knee/ankle injury leaves him limited, I like Cadeau to pick up the scoring slack.

UConn Alex Karaban 3+ assists

+160 at bet365

Alex Karaban was the offensive engine for the Huskies through the opening three games of the NCAA Tournament, but he has seen his shooting cool in the past two games, putting up just five and nine points.

Karaban finds other ways to contribute, however. He’s recorded at least three assists in four of UConn’s five NCAA Tournament games and has three or more dimes in six of eight postseason outings going back to the Big East Tournament.
